Accomplishments

Accomplishments
  • Devoted over 100 hours putting together the financial budget for the Mastercard Ajira digital program (under the larger Young Africa Works (YAW) program) for over 10 million USD that was awarded in December 2019
  • Developed a model to identify savings on donor contracts because of Foreign Exchange differences, that resulted in additional milestones being achieved and increased transparency in donor reporting.
  • Spent over 120 hours per Quarter in Coaching and mentoring country program teams resulting in the capacity building for the teams in the region to achieve organizational goals.
  • Devoted 50+ hours building a template for the consolidated regional budget that improved the accuracy of budget consolidations and reduced time spent by 5 days; the model was rolled out to other regions to work with.
  • Initiated a reorganization of the finance department towards a functional structure from the previous brand wise structure to encourage segregation of duties and consequently enhance internal controls. Because of enhanced controls, discovery was made of a fraud by a shop manager of over 1 million Kenya shillings, saving the organization further losses.
  • Instituted a new payments option for students. I successfully completed negotiations for both the MPESA and ZAP (Celtel) pay bill avenues for use by students to ensure timely collections from debtors and therefore increasing our collection efficiency that at the time were novel and not yet widely embraced.
