·Tasked with treasury management including handling bank relationships, Cash-flow planning and management and advising on appropriate short-term – medium term investment options.
· Prepared and monitored budgets and expenditures, including the preparation and presentation of Budget variance reports and analysis to Heads of Departments.
· Managed fixed assets including maintenance of the asset register and accounting to ensure safety and accountability for the same.
· Supervised the billing, revenue capture and expenditure functions of the university including approval of payments and ensured a smooth close down of accounts for month-end and year- end financial reports.
· Prepared the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in line with IFRS including notes and commentaries to the accounts, facilitating the annual external auditing process and responding to management letter and queries arising from the audit process.
· Invested idle funds in short term money market instruments at commercial banks and treasury bills at Central bank to earn additional revenue for the university.
· Provided leadership and oversight to the accounts department team to ensure proper posting of transactions and maintenance of all general ledger accounts and timely reporting.
· Supervised and reviewed monthly reports from the petty cash, payroll, cashiering and bank reconciliation teams.
· Handled all accounting, reporting and correspondences regarding the donor funded contracts /projects that were channeled to the University from USAID, BAOBAB, FORD Foundation, Pharmacess International, and others.
