Milkah Ngare

• Serving as chairperson of the Ward Climate Change & Planning Committee in engaging the community to gather views and opinions that shape the ward's climate change plan, in accordance with the County's Climate Change Act
• Develop a structure for public awareness and engagement on adaptation, mitigation and disaster management of the effects of climate change
• Advise the county government on specific climate change projects proposals emanating from the community

• Serving as the chairperson of the School Infrastructure Committee (SIC), to develop yearly Infrastructural development plans, execute, supervise and give quarterly reports with recommendations, to the full board
• Contributing as a member of the School Strategic Planning Committee to continually enrich the school's current strategic plan, to meet the needs of the students, teachers, parents and community
• Coordinate and monitor the school's management activities including supervision of curriculum, overseeing school funds, collaborate with teachers and students to develop students'-discipline policies for a secure and conducive teaching & learning environment

• Represented 450,000+ women and youth, bringing to light their views and opinions on the County’s Budget process as well as other policies affecting them.

• Effectively lobbied for the creation of Nyota Zetu, a sustainable County-wide bursary program that remits to target families about $150 to offset school fees for high performing yet needy students which increased the County’s student retention rates

• Intentionally supported and mentored needy students between ages 13-20 from households living on less than a dollar a day to make informed choices and aspire to be responsible citizens

• Proffered to serve as Vice secretary to the Assembly’s Women Caucus where I contributed to and documented decisions that informed allocation of funds to programs targeting the empowerment of women in the county, and further on provided oversight, monitoring & evaluation to the County's Women Fund

• Regularly drafted press releases and reports on the County’s efforts in advancing issues affecting women and girls such as sexual abuse, domestic violence and drug use in the County

• Occasionally served as a member of The Speaker's Panel in moderating debates on the floor of the house, on development issues affecting more than one million Murang’a citizens on issues including education, environment, health and sanitation

• Successfully sponsored the Murang’a County Climate Change Fund bill aligned to the Climate Change Act of 2016, capturing operational and fundraising strategies to support community-level projects that conserve the environment
