Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant power systems during shifts in accordance with company procedures, safety policies, and dispatch instructions.
• Maintain stable power production within approved operating and loading envelopes to support continuous plant operation.
• Assist in start-up, shutdown, and normal operation of plant electrical and auxiliary systems.
• Monitor plant equipment condition and performance via operator interfaces and field inspections.
• Take immediate corrective action during system disturbances and escalate critical issues to the Shift Supervisor.
• Complete and maintain clear, accurate shift logs, running records, and maintenance reports.
• Perform planned, corrective, and emergency maintenance on generators, motors, transformers, switchgear, UPS, VFDs, soft starters, and auxiliary systems.
• Execute emergency procedures to protect personnel, equipment, and plant integrity during faults or abnormal conditions.
• Ensure high standards of plant cleanliness, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Utilize tools, equipment, and consumables efficiently to maximize service life and control costs.
• Provide thorough shift handover, communicating plant status, disturbances, alarms, and pending actions to relieving operators.
• Promote safe working practices by reporting unsafe acts or conditions to the Shift Supervisor or Duty Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical components, such as transformers, motors, and circuit breakers
• Conduct tests and assessments of new systems and repairs to ensure quality
• Respond quickly to all service requests and efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical systems within the Plant
• Installation of new equipment and wiring to expand infrastructure as needed
• Perform preventive maintenance regularly for High Tension (6.6kV) and Low Tension (415V & 690V) transformers and motors
• Maintenance of Liquid Rotor Starter (LRS) and Grid Rotor Resistances (GRR)
• Designing and making general starters for light switching and motor starters (DOL, Star-Delta, Forward/Reverse)
• Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools
• Maintenance of 132kV switchyard at the company receiving substation
• Ensure full adherence to the planned maintenance program for electrical equipment
• Carry out electrical repairs, including portable tools, workshop machines, and canteen equipment
• Ensure that all electrical panels, workshops, and installations are kept clean at all times
• Maintain high housekeeping standards in switch rooms, Transformer rooms, and generator rooms at all times
• Ensure all switch gears, energy meters, Power Factor corrections banks, air conditioners, and firefighting equipment are operational and in a good state
• Replace light fittings, socket outlets, conduit, and trucking while ensuring high standards of workmanship at all times
• Preventive, Corrective, and Condition Based Maintenance of electrical equipment
• Safety Champion: ensuring delivery of zero harm agenda ensuring 100% working of all equipment safety mechanisms risk assessment before undertaking any maintenance activities and safety to work permits for LOTTO
• Interpretation of technical drawings, maintenance manuals, schematic drawings, and general engineering specifications when attending breakdowns
• Conduct RCA on all breakdowns
