Dorcas is a Gender, Equity, and Social Inclusion Specialist, dedicated to integrating gender and diversity seamlessly into programs and operations within civil society and government in diverse development and humanitarian contexts. She holds a bachelor’s degree in community development and currently
pursuing her master’s degree in Gender and Development studies and over 8 years of policy and field experience in Africa leading research, training, evaluations, designs, strategy development, and project implementation based on a deep contextual understanding of intersectional identities and
power dynamics, gender inequalities, social and gender norms, and political economy issues.
Her proficiency lies in providing technical expertise and programming across multiple sectors, including SRHR, Energy, Climate and Violence Against Women and Girls. Her skill set encompasses the execution of various tasks, ranging from conducting insightful research, capacity building, advocacy, gender analysis, gender audit and gender mainstreaming to public policy analysis and
influencing. Additionally, she excels in partnership building and implementing gender-transformative
monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. Committed to fostering inclusivity and equality, she brings a
wealth of experience to every facet of my work, contributing to impactful and sustainable outcomes.
She has also worked in large and complex programs funded by a variety of donors (Global Affairs
Canada, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and USAID). She is a proficient team leader, capable of
excelling in fast paced, culturally diverse and politically complex environments. She has also a proven
expertise health systems strengthening, violence against women and girls, reproductive health, education, livelihoods, gender in
emergency, youth empowerment, capacity building, and in helping communities lay the foundations
for their own development and self-reliance.
Mapping existing capacity needs with County Health Management teams on gender/youth responsive and inclusive planning, budgeting, data for decision-making and SRH supportive supervision.
Mapping existing coordination gaps with Technical Working Groups (TWGs) at County level on gender/youth responsive and inclusive planning, budgeting, data for decision-making and SRH supportive supervision. I provided One (1) mapping report highlighting coordination gaps of TWGs in the project implementation areas and recommendations to address these gaps were developed at the end of this process to provide information that was important in informing a mentorship plan and training for the TWGs to ably address these gaps in their respective counties.
