Job overview

Part of my tasks include:

  • Preparing risk registers which highlight various risks and challenges faced by departments.
  • Working with various teams to quantify and understand initiatives designed to better manage company claims and expenses. I have garnered quality experience through communicating with teams and presenting on these initiatives to upper management.
  • Building a claims tool in Microsoft Excel and Tableau that is used to analyze loss metrics by claim size to better identify and monitor changes in clientele's loss ratios and claiming history. This has enabled me to develop intensive coding in Oracle/PLSQL. This has also sharpened my data visualization skills using tableau.
  • Performing in-depth actuarial analysis and presenting results to management team.
  • Preparing analytics reports to help various departments understand their performances.
  • Pricing of insurance policies for new schemes planning to come onboard.
  • Preparing renewal invites and schedules for various schemes whose policy periods are about to lapse. This includes calculating their renewal premiums after factoring in elements such as company's expected profit, inflation rate and their loss ratios.
  • Preparing claims experiences reports that help the company monitor claim performance of various schemes and highlight risk factors or areas of improvements in managing schemes to increase overall profitability.
  • Product development & enhancements.

Part of my achievements include:

  • I have been tasked with creating various reports for the business; amongst them the Lifestyle diseases report which has given the business an insight on the trends of claims from the lifestyle diseases. This has been helpful to the company as it encouraged the need to create the lifestyle management program by the company which aims at encouraging members to live healthier lifestyles and gives directions on how to improve the lives of members living with lifestyle diseases. This has greatly improved on customer service, reduced the number of new lifestyle disease ailments, and has significantly reduced the amounts of claims received from lifestyle diseases. This was also made possible by maintaining teamwork with members of other departments.
  • Through effectively pricing the medical quotes I have been able to help the business bring in new schemes aboard and hence increase the company's clientele base and promote the overall medical insurance coverage within the country.
  • I have been tasked with single-handedly preparing the renewal invites and renewal schedules for the company's SME business portfolio, a task which I have undertaken well.
  • The monthly and weekly claims reports have helped in maintaining the current clientele hence improving on the company's profitability.
  • I have been able to work from home effectively since March 2020 after 3 months of induction into the department. This was made possible by the great team spirit within the department and by maintaining attention to detail.
  • I have developed physician groupings and facility profiling studies in support of network development. This has played a significant role in provider contracting and network development strategy.
  • I am a key member of the corporate data warehouse development team.
  • I represent my department as the data champion, and my role entails monitoring loopholes in our data transmission channels and ensuring the company's data protection rules and regulations are adhered to in order to protect our clients' privacy.
