Training in Leadership

I participated in a leadership training program in 13 states of the United States, as well as in India, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Both trainings were designed to offer realistic, value-based instruction in transformational leadership, conflict management, intercultural communication, and team building to emerging leaders. The goal was to motivate a new generation of individuals who were committed to nurturing global development, promoting healing, and effecting positive change, and who possessed integrity, faith, and devotion. This endeavor was in response to Gandhi's appeal to humanity to "be the change you wish to see in the world."

My personality has been significantly impacted by this leadership training.

I give back to the community by participating in a diverse array of initiatives. Based in Nairobi, I am a volunteer local coordinator for the Small Business Fund at Spirit in Action International (https://spiritinaction.org/). My responsibilities include the identification of vulnerable groups in the informal settlements of Nairobi, the provision of basic business skills and record-keeping training, and the subsequent provision of small grants to assist in the establishment of businesses.

I also serve as an African Advisor to SIA (spiritinaction.org) and on the Board of e-CATS (e-cats.org).
