Key Achievements

• Build the Capacity of HRH on Quality. Reached over 250 health workers through online QI training/certification
• Mentorship to over 100 health workers in 3 Counties Meru, Nairobi, and Bungoma
• Carried out assessment to 10 health facilities in Kenya for the Quality Healthcare Kenyan Awards 2021
• Supported Beyond Zero Award targeting nurses in primary healthcare setting Level 2-4 Facilities in 47 Counties in Kenya
• Developed assessment criteria, the application process, and the award scoring process during the 2021 Beyond Zero Health Health Awards

• Responsible for leading planning organizing and coordinating HSS program activities including implementation of Quality standards for national, County, Sub-County, and facility levels in both public and private hospitals in Kenya.
• Implemented the GSK-funded project in Kisumu County, Seme Kombewa Sub-County Hospital

Key Achievements.

• Led project activities through coordination and supervision of the implementation of project activities in collaboration with the County government of Kisumu at Seme Constituency development team in Kombewa maternity hospital infrastructure development.
• Initiated and scaled up COVID-19 online training targeting frontline health workers from public, private, and faith-based facilities. Trained over 13,500 HCWs through 25 sets of series of webinars.
• Developed and rolled out the Kenya Quality Model for Health (KQMH) Capacity building implementation road map which is now adopted by MOH and Counties among other stakeholders in Kenya.
• Innovatively Developed the Quality status/Audit/assessment tool/Quality Scorecard for all health facilities in Kenya piloted in 7 counties and adopted by the Quality Healthcare Kenya Awards for assessment in Kenya
• Developed Quality assessment scorecard piloted in Tharaka Nithi, Machakos, Kisumu, Vihiga, Nairobi and Kwale Counties reaching 50 health facilities
• Participated in the development and implementation of the inaugural Quality Healthcare Kenya Award 2019, 2020 and successfully carried out an assessment or audit/assessment as National assessor for 2021.
• Organized the first Kenya Healthcare convention in Kenya on 9th March 2020.
• Coordinated and represent Amref Health Africa in National Quality TWG forums and developed the Quality of-care manual and Framework for Kenyan health sector which were launched on 9/03/2020 by head of state
• Supported the setting up of Chlorhexidine use for cord care project Quality implementation, policy framework, and legislation policy in Kenya
• Developed, implemented, and controlled project annual budgets and costed work plans in the GSK Kombewa project to a tune of Kshs 150million.
• Coordinated the team of Quality assessors to assess facilities in Kenya using Quality Model for Health and Quality scorecard for the Quality Healthcare Kenya awards 2021

Coordinated and supervised project activities in collaboration with MOH staff, project technical staff, and other implementation stakeholders to support health facility teams to effectively implement, document and report Quality Improvement activities in regard to areas of low performance in the project; HIV testing services, ART initiation and transition to DTG based regimens.

Key Achievements.

• Implemented a national capacity development for QI coaching in 11 supported facilities, institutionalized the use of Quality Improvement for improved client satisfaction and client outcomes through mentorship, coaching and support supervision
• Coordinated the sub-county and project teams to carry out QI audits and Quality assessments using SIMS, QI Scorecard, and KHQIF checklist as well as KQMH
• Adopted an award system for facilities teams after a quality assessment score by Langata Sub County Health Management team (SCHMT)
• Developed and adopted National QI policies, SOPs and ensure adherence to Quality standards and apply QI approaches to routine health services, and set QI targets for monitoring and reporting with routine facility-level team meetings.
• Supported National MOH, County, and Sub counties among other partners in HSS gaps identification and risk management by establish systems for implementation of continuous quality improvement and promote continuous learning and spread innovative approaches to full scale up and roll out to all sites INH initiation project improved uptake to 97% and completion rate 90% in 9 sites in Nairobi
• Worked with the County and Sub- County teams in coordinating the competency and capacity building of health workers on quality Improvement training programs through CMEs and On Job Training and supervision with CHMTs/SCHMTs
• Supported MOH through project teams in ensuring all HIV/TB testers are enrolled on the online proficiency testing and any corrective action measures (CAPA) are addressed.

Responsible for overseeing the project designing, implementing Integrated HIV management and expansion of 90:90:90 global ambitious HIV target: HIV testing, ART initiation and adherence to ART and follow up including viral suppression. Support M&E team and data use for decision-making by monitoring project Quality indicators aiming at achieving project targets and ensuring data quality management. Collaborated with stakeholders, MOH and donors for effective project supervision and strategic adoption and scale-up of working solutions in all project sites.

Key Achievements

• Effective scaled-up of Quality activities to all health facilities which led to an increased number of clients reached from 2,500 clients to over 12,000 clients by September 2019.
• Successfully led the adoption of ART guidelines changes and ensured site-level adherence to set quality standards. Led the Setting up of Quality Management teams in 9 health facilities in Nairobi County in Kenya.
• Successfully coordinated the establishment of three new project sites; identification, set standards, effective staff management, mentorship, and deployment across the four facilities in Kibera slums in Kenya.
• Increased client enrolment uptake from an initial 1,000 at entry to 8,000 over 2 years period.

Responsible for day-to-day running of health services at Hope Centre Nairobi and Frequent visited to two other sites; the Industrial area Nairobi clinic and Kisumu/Maseno clinics offering mentorship and health system strengthening by identifying best working solutions in improving client flows, bottlenecks and managing a day to day challenges and Coordinated capacity building or CME programs on a weekly basis

Key Achievements

• Capacity building, assessment, and mentorship to improve performance grew clients to approximately 16,000 over the period.
• Developed and carried out daily workload assessment with individual performance data and reporting.
• Developed training needs for staff on key topical issues and patient management on a weekly basis
• Instituted a weekly CME forum for all staff and coordinated facilitators from both internal and external
• Effectively established working weekly facility teams meeting all staff from all departments and feedback
• Organized client flows and minimized delays and effectively addressed client needs and effectively communicated feedback to clients and management on client flow processes that improve satisfaction.
• Increased client enrolment and improved revenue collection for the outpatient clinic in Kisumu from an average of Kshs 15,000 a month to Kshs 180,000 per month in 3 months through proactive teamwork and collaboration and strategy planning and execution
