Mechanical Design

• Developed and drafted concept designs( using Inventor and AutoCAD software) of components needed in the production line to share with vendors for fabrication.
• Performed design calculations for various engineering problems
• Reviewed vendor drawings and provide technical feedback to ensure specifications are met
• Responsible for the technical quality and accuracy of work developed by the mechanical engineering team
• Developed factory layout design to improve process flow and factory layout using AutoCAD Factory Design Utilities software.

Project Management

• Developed documents for projects for communication with the stakeholders such documents included project request forms, design note and decision paper
• Developing budgetary estimate of the project involved and the cost analysis to determine the ROI for each project before committing to the project.
• Tracked the projects ensuring they are within schedule and updating the stakeholders on the same using excel spreadsheet as the tracking tool.
• Carrying out root cause analysis to mitigate on risks arising from the projects and ensuring they do not re occur again.
• Vendor selection for projects by sending out request for quotation to the vendors and carrying out bid analysis to pick out on the best qualified vendor.
• Lead meetings with vendors and engineering consultants

Mechanical Execution

• Installing and commissioning of plant equipment and carrying out the FAT and SAT on the machine during the commissioning process
• Manage all on site contractors for all assigned projects ensuring that they are in full compliance to the required HSE guidelines and standard engineering practices.
• Prepare operating guidelines commissioning test forms, equipment checklists and commissioning reports and maintain commissioning issues lists.

Maintenance

• Troubleshoot system operational issues that impact system operation, safety, reliability and efficiency
• Forms part of the team to provide support to operations to either fault find, de-bottleneck or resolve breakdowns which negatively impact OEE
• Developing elaborate AM and PM schedules to help in smooth running of the plant processing equipment by enabling quick response to brake downs and reducing TAT for such breakdowns
• Carrying up gap analysis on the plant processing line and proposing ideal solutions to solve the gaps identified either MVP solutions or redundancy solutions
• Developing critical spare part list for machines in the process lines to facilitate prompt response during breakdowns

Achievements

• Over saw the installation, commissioning and additional designing of a black soldier fly larvae oil press and filtration mini plant with the ability to press 500kg of larvae per day
• Successfully carried out a gap analysis on the briquetting line with a capacity of producing 8T of briquettes a day
• From this analysis, I was able to identify areas of shortcoming that would affect production and provided both MVP solutions and sustain solution for those shortcomings saving the company of losses incurred during unexpected breakdowns in the line.

Mechanical Design

• Design of clean burning biomass cookstoves and accessories using Inventor software.
• Prototyping of newly designed cookstoves as proof of concept, prototyping was done through sheet metal fabrication and 3D printing.
• Assisted the manufacturing team on factory layout design and process flow design using AutoCAD to improve on the production line.
• Assisted the engineering team in developing drawings for the factory reconstruction.
• Designing and improving tools,jigs and fixtures used in the line for mass production to improve productivity of various components.
• Design and prototyping of forming tools for prototype production.

Project Management

• Ensuring prototypes are completed within the scheduled time.
• Developing design documents for communicating with the stakeholders.
• Liaising with vendors on supply of required materials and their supply to the factory

Achievements

• Designed and prototyped conceptual samples of LPG cooking gas that was supposed to be introduced as a new product for the organization
• Redesigned the existing kuniokoa to include a feature that increased the service life of the product and this re design was adopted to production
• Developed various concept for a new product to be developed as part of the organizations goal of increasing product ranges.

Mechanical Design

• Design of industrial tanks, dairy plant equipment, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment and other steel products using AutoCAD and Inventor software.
• Design and drafting of plant layout using AutoCAD P&ID . Plant layout included design of the processes in milk industry from reception of milk, processing and packaging.
• Proposition and sizing of utilities required in different plants during installation and commissioning.

Operations

• Supervision of the fabrication process to ensure the standards expected are met and the specification of the client are met
• Training of interns and technicians on AutoCAD basics and fundamentals.
• Operation and training technicians on plasma cutting machine being utilized in the day to day operations.

• Managing drivers and creation of job schedules for the drivers
• Overall maintenance and management of the company’s fleet of more than 50 heavy commercial vehicles
• Maintenance of drilling rigs and other drilling equipment such as compressors, mudpumps, generators
• Fuel consumption management
