Working with a team of other nurses in a 40 bedded ward offering quality health care to elderly patients. Ensuring the delivery of exemplary care to elderly patients presenting with mental health problems such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s; reporting to the senior nurse.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring the accurate completion of all administration and documentation related to patient care.
• Providing high standards of care for elderly patients with a focus on everyday care, personal hygiene, mental stimulation and their well-being.
• Answering patients questions to allay anxiety.
• Observing and recording signs,symptoms and behaviors including the psychological status of patients;present the assessment of changes,the proposed revision of interventions and desired outcomes.
• Administering prescribed medications and treatments and observing keenly for adverse reaction and effectiveness of the drugs.
• Evaluating care given including the patient response.
• Observing ad reporting symptoms ,reactions to treatments ,drugs and changes in the patient physical/emotional support.
• Ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of patient’s rooms and communication areas to promote patient safety.
• Acting in the best interest of patients while ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and promoting empathetic communication with patient’s relatives.
• Strengthening relations with both doctors and hospitals professionals when discussing patient requirements and requesting emergency medical interventions.
• Participating in team projects and demonstrating an ability to work collaboratively and effectively.
