TECHNICAL ROLES

  • Client onboarding – ensuring that letters of engagement are entered into as appropriate, preparation of client budget to ensure that work is carried out efficiently;
  • Engage with the client to understand their issues and the scope of work needed;

  • Drafting objections to tax assessments to the Kenya Revenue Authority;
  • Advising and representing clients on tax disputes with the revenue authority, including alternative dispute resolution engagements, the tax appeals tribunal and before the courts of law;
  • Assess and research tax issues to identify solutions and stay up to date on changes.
  • Representation in Tribunal and court litigation processes
  • Obtaining optimal or most suitable settlement of tax issues or tax optimal structure for the client;
  • Review of VAT Refund claims to be lodged with KRA with follow-up for payment or set off.
  • Preparing correspondence on behalf of Westminster with relevant parties;
  • Working closely with key stakeholders to identify policy gaps, develop policy responses and implement effective tax justice system transformation initiatives within the program scope;
  • Providing tax advisory services in relation to corporation tax, value added tax(VAT), Pay As You Earn (PAYE), withholding tax (WHT), customs duty, excise duty and all other taxes and levies
  • Assist clients with regulatory and legislative initiatives and preparing requests for private rulings and technical advice from the Tax authorities;
  • Providing advisory services to entities, setting up of operations in Kenya, restructuring of companies already operating in Kenya and advising companies in tax optimization and tax efficient operational structures
  • Conduct and draft industry research studies; Drafting tax publications for clients and writing articles on relevant tax matters.
