I am a veterinary and animal health para-professional who cares deeply about animal welfare and well-being, not just in theory but in day-to-day practice. I am particularly interested in understanding animal health problems through research and real field experience, and using that evidence to improve how animals are managed, treated, and protected. My work and interests sit at the point where animal welfare, livestock productivity, public health, and food security meet. I am motivated by the idea that better data, better decisions, and ethical animal care can lead to healthier animals, stronger livelihoods, and more sustainable food systems, especially in resource-limited settings.
I undertook my internship as a Research Assistant at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), where I was actively involved in herd health-related activities and livestock research support. During this period, I participated in routine animal health assessments, assisted in disease surveillance and treatment follow-ups, and supported the implementation of basic biosecurity measures on the farm. I was also involved in data collection for ongoing research activities, including field observations, animal handling, and documentation of health and production records. This experience strengthened my ability to work in structured research environments while remaining effective in practical, on-farm settings.
I am competent in herd health support, routine animal handling and restraint, basic identification and reporting of animal health problems, and farm record keeping I am comfortable working in field conditions, supporting veterinary and technical officers, and maintaining accurate treatment and production records that support decision-making and accountability
I am proficient in Microsoft Word and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, and Drive), which I use for report writing, data entry, and record management
