I incorporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into tobacco growing. I work directly with farmers, suppliers, and internal teams to promote responsible agriculture, climate resilience, and community development, while ensuring compliance with global sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Zero child labor Advocacy:

Implement and monitor strict policies to eliminate child labor and prevention measures across the leaf supply chain through conducting regular field visits, awareness campaigns, and community engagement programs.

• Crop diversification:

Implement a vegetable project, providing over 500 farmers with vegetable seeds, enhancing food security in their households, and supplementing income streams.

• Women's Development Program:

Led initiatives to empower female farmers and male farmer spouses through training on women empowerment, financial literacy, best agricultural practices, and income-generating activities.

Led the Mushroom project: 20 female farmers were trained, enabling them to generate additional income, diversify their livelihoods, and enhance economic empowerment.

• Farmer livelihood improvement:

I support 800+ farmers through capacity-building programs, promoting sustainable practices, and access to agricultural inputs, which has resulted in increased crop yields and improved quality.

• WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)

Lead initiatives aimed at improving access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education for our farmers and the community at large.

Led a borehole project providing clean water to a local dispensary, benefiting more than 3,000 patients and community members, and improving access to safe water and sanitation.

• Monitoring and compliance:

Ensure compliance with global sustainability frameworks such as THRIVE and STP, supporting external audits through accurate field data, reporting, and impact tracking.

• Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaboration with internal departments, local government bodies, and community groups to align sustainability objectives with field realities, and strengthen partnerships.

• Sustainable Agriculture:

Promote soil conservation, integrated pest management, afforestation, and climate-smart farming practices.

• Afforestation/Environmental programs.

Led the Adapt a Forest program in Mt. Elgon, planting 900,000 tree seedlings to restore degraded land. Managed afforestation in BROA sites, planting 15,000 trees to.

Support biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

Promote farmer-led reforestation, providing annual tree seedlings to farmers, ensuring a sustainable woodfuel supply and long-term environmental stewardship.

Participating in community outreach. Involved in several community outreach activities, such as organizing educational workshops and seminars on topics related to sustainable development and environmental conservation.

Conducting research and analysis. Responsible for conducting research and analysis on various environmental and development issues to support COSDEP's programs and initiatives.

· Providing support for project implementation. Assist in the implementation of specific projects, such as tree planting, waste management, or sustainable agriculture initiatives.

. Responsible for building partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders in the community, helping to build support for COSDEP's mission and goals.

· Providing technical assistance. Provided technical assistance to over 10 small-scale fish farmers to help them improve their production techniques and increase their yields. This also involved providing training on best practices for fish farming, conducting on-site visits to identify areas for improvement, and providing guidance on selection and use of inputs such as feed and water quality management.

· Supporting access to finance. Worked to identify appropriate financing options for smallholders, such as microfinance or crowdfunding, and provide support in accessing these resources. This helped increase percentage of small-scale fish farmers.

· Strengthening value chains. Performed activities to strengthen value chain for small-scale aquaculture by helping to link smallholders with buyers and processors.

Sorted files and documents.

Gained skills in organic farming, pest control, management, soil tillage techniques, soil feeding, and cropping systems.

Roles:

Planting and transplanting are responsible for planting and transplanting a wide variety of plant species, ranging from flowers and shrubs to trees and rare plant specimens. Over 20 plants, and more.

Soil management ensures that the soil in the garden is healthy and suitable for plant growth.

Irrigation and watering ensure that plants receive the proper amount of water to grow and thrive.

Pest and disease control involves identifying and controlling pests and diseases that can damage plants using chemical treatments and natural pest control methods, such as introducing beneficial insects to the garden.

Landscape design involved working with landscapes to design and plan the garden's layout and features.

Used strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective solutions for challenging situations.
