- Directing, supervising and evaluating performance of nursing staff and student nurses
- Developing, implementing and reviewing policies, procedures, protocols and care guidelines based on international standards
- Facilitating students’ learning during clinical placement through precepting and mentoring them
- Participating in the orientation of new nursing staff and nursing students in the hospital
- Teaching and guiding students during clinical placement
- Conducting daily patient care rounds and supervising clinical procedures for both nurses and students
- Co-assessing students during practical
- Fostering pleasant working environment through motivational leadership style to enhance job satisfaction among the staff and students
- Performing ongoing, periodic and regular appraisal reviews for staff
- Developing and executing staffing plans while ensuring adequate staff coverage and skill mix for safe and effective patient care
- Determining and tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Formulation, implementation and evaluation of annual goals and objectives in accordance with departmental and hospital strategic objectives
- Identifying nursing training and continuous professional development needs and evaluating the outcomes of such training
- Participating in continuous quality improvement and patient safety and formulating action plans on identified gaps
- Participating in the budget process and ensuring efficient resource utilization.
