Musa is a Social Development Practitioner with over nine years of experience in social accountability, policy and budget advocacy, grants and consortium management, and programme design and technical support across Africa. His expertise spans Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), HIV & AIDS, child protection, youth engagement, and disability inclusion, with a strong focus on advancing equity through rights-based approaches. He has successfully led and supported multi-country programmes funded by major international donors, including the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the European Union (EU), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, facilitating strategic advocacy initiatives that empower youth, women, and marginalized populations. Musa has served as Regional Advocacy Officer at DSW leading regional advocacy efforts aimed at strengthening gender-responsive SRHR policies, financing, and accountability mechanisms within regional governance frameworks, including the East African Community (EAC) and the African Union (AU). His role includes providing technical leadership, coordinating multi-country advocacy strategies, and mentoring programme teams across Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Zambia to enhance policy influence and programme impact. Currently as a Project Manager at VSO Kenya, Musa oversee the implementation of flagship initiatives, including the Make Way Intersectionality SRHR Advocacy Project (funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Active Citizenship Project (funded by FCDO), and SPA 11 (funded by ActionAid Denmark). Musa possesses strong competencies in programme coordination, financial management, donor compliance, and results-based reporting, including budget development and expenditure monitoring. He has extensive experience managing complex, consortium-based advocacy programmes, supporting civil society organizations to strengthen institutional capacity, delivering results at scale, and fostering collaborative learning and accountability. His work consistently focuses on advancing inclusive, evidence-based advocacy that improves health and social development outcomes for young people and other marginalized communities.
