As the Resilience Project Coordinator for the KFW Project under the FAO Somalia Resilience Program in Jubaland, you will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing livestock feed and pastoral economics while promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Your role will involve collaborating with various stakeholders, including government ministries such as the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Livestock, to identify and develop resilient water infrastructures for pastoral and riverine communities. Through feasibility studies and community consultations, you will establish systems that support livelihood diversification and enhance community resilience.

The Resilience Field Project Manager will serve a critical leadership role within the FAO Somalia Resilience Program, focusing on the Joint Resilience Action initiative funded by KfW in partnership with UNICEF and WFP. This position is essential for enhancing community resilience in the Gedo region through integrated programming, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building. The role involves conducting and analyzing Participatory Rural Appraisals (PRAs) to identify and prioritize community needs, enabling the design of customized resilience pathways that address vulnerabilities and foster sustainable development.

• Conduct thorough PRAs to gather insights on community priorities and needs
• Analyze the findings to identify key resilience drivers and barriers
• Develop and implement community-driven resilience pathways that address the identified needs and priorities
• Foster collaboration with local stakeholders, government institutions, and partner organizations to leverage resources and expertise for effective implementation

Key Responsibilities:

• Program Operations: Efficiently manage the FAO Somalia Resilience Program in the Gedo region, ensuring effective collaboration with WFP and UNICEF to maximize program outcomes and address community needs.
• Community Engagement: Conduct Participatory Rural Appraisals (PRAs) to gather insights on community priorities and needs, facilitating community participation in the development of resilience initiatives.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze findings from PRA studies and present results to stakeholders, ensuring data-driven decision-making in program design and implementation.
• Program Design and Development: Develop resilient livelihood program designs that align with community priorities. Create tailored livelihood pathways for each resilience intervention to enhance livelihood options for vulnerable populations.
• Capacity Building: Lead efforts in building the capacity of government institutions and community stakeholders, providing training for EWEA/NRM committees on disaster risk reduction (DRR), and climate change adaptation strategies.
• Infrastructure Identification: Collaborate with the FAO Infrastructures Unit, line ministries, and community leaders to identify and prioritize productive infrastructure development that supports resilience-building efforts.
