I took a voluntary break from my career to prioritize family responsibilities. During this period, I engaged in several activities, including self-directed study on security risk management, ongoing book authorship, and pursuing a graduate degree related to my job. These efforts were aimed at helping me achieve my long-term professional goal in security.

• Advising the Regional Security Office on security and law enforcement matters,
• Liaising with police and security officials,
• Coordinating with the Overseas Security Advisory Council,
• Providing protection support for dignitaries,
• Managing the local investigative program, and
• Supervising security investigators and security clerks.

• Investigate passport and visa fraud, smuggling, human trafficking, counterfeit/forged documents, identity fraud, U.S. fugitives, malfeasance, and other criminal activities affecting U.S. national security.
• Conduct anti-fraud training, liaise with government/law enforcement officials, collect and analyze criminal intelligence, and provide court depositions/testimony if needed.

The position includes managing the processing of passport applications, supervising staff, providing customer service, ensuring compliance, implementing quality control, and liaising with other agencies. Additionally, overseeing the staff, managing the production process, ensuring quality assurance and security, and enforcing compliance with regulations and standards are important tasks.

Analyze immigration enforcement and border security data to provide insights for policy decisions, enforcement strategies, and resource allocation. Collaborating with partners to research immigration-related issues and provide training are also important aspects of the job.

Verifying the eligibility of individuals entering a country by checking their travel documents, questioning them about the purpose and duration of their visit, and ensuring compliance with immigration laws. If necessary, one also has the authority to deny entry to those who do not meet the requirements.

Collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to prevent illegal immigration and protect national security is another important responsibility of this job. Moreover, this position processes visa applications, residence permit petitions, and other immigration benefits. Finally, this position involves enforcing immigration laws within Ethiopia, including investigating and apprehending individuals who violate immigration laws and conducting removal proceedings.
