Maryan Hajir

Communication Personal
Nairobi, Kenya

Summary

To serve and create meaningful change has been my mantra, one that I apply at a personal, community, and national level. This mantra has driven me to push myself constantly, to believe in better, to aspire for better and do better. With the belief that communication is an empowerment tool, I use my university credentials to package change as knowledge nuggets, content, stories, videos and words. Indeed, change is inevitable, and I will always be at the heart of it.

Customer Service Representative

LaunchPad
Nairobi, Kenya
08.2019 - 07.2021

LaunchPad is a PR, Marketing and Events company that is working towards becoming Kenya’s first agricultural marketing agency.

To this end, I have had a chance to work on key drivers in the agricultural space namely fertilizer under the Mea Ltd/Fertiplant East Africa Ltd accounts and being part of the team behind the Mind Fertilizer Project.

The former represents the launch of the region's first true fertilizer manufacturing plant. At the same time, the latter is an agenda to democratize information and knowledge to help raise awareness levels and output of the agricultural effort.

The Mind Fertilizer Project has shed light on the game-changing elements behind knowledge and know-how and with it the long-term impacts it can have on a myriad of industries.

From it, we are working on setting up agricultural awareness programs countrywide by developing curriculums and toolkits to teach stakeholders, set up agricultural clubs and showcase the many opportunities the agricultural industry presents to stakeholders.

From this project, my research and data compilation skills have greatly improved together with gaining a better and hands-on understanding of project management skills required to conceptualize and actualize undertakings.

Customer Service Intern

Kenya Power
05.2019 - 07.2019
  • My internship was a significant learning; one that opened my world to the art of listening and problem-solving
  • Most of the issues at Kenya Power are reactionary, and frontline interactions are mainly those of unhappy customers
  • From these interactions, I proposed and helped implement interventions based on the FAQs that flagged, preempted and reduced negative interactions with our customers.
