Qualitative Research Consultant, July 2022-January 2023 SKY Girls Kenya/Tandem Network, Nairobi, Kenya 

  • Led in the design and formulation of questions for data collection for the PAA Season 1 Project for adolescent girls in different areas in Nairobi county i.e. Kawangware, Riruta, Upper and Lower Waruku, Dagoretti North, Jamuhuri and Ngong Road areas. Mobilized school going adolescent girls from different economic backgrounds and age groups of between 13-19 years.
  • Conducted 11 Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) on different topics such as romantic relationships amongst adolescents, friendships amongst adolescents, mental health in adolescents and sexual relations among adolescents.
  • Facilitated 2 sessions and explored gaps on menstruation with adolescent girls from different backgrounds.
  • Administered a qualitative tool in partnership with UNICEF, for an FGD session for the feasibility study on the use of a friendly menstruation App for adolescent girls.

  • Contributed to the design and formulation of the Learning Agenda for the Joint Investment Mechanism (JIM) Grant which is a collaborative intervention between the Ministry of Health (MoH) and UNICEF Kenya. The Learning Agenda provided a unified platform for UNICEF Kenya, the national Ministry of Health and the three county governments of Garissa, Kisumu and Samburu to jointly generate implementation research evidence. It also enabled reflection on the evidence, as well as the utilization of context-based research to improve the quality, reach and effectiveness of interventions for early childhood, adolescent health and wellbeing, and primary healthcare in the three counties.
