Provided oversight and ensured quality program delivery of regional and country programs in seven countries (Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Somalia, Malawi, Zimbabwe) in Africa and technically supported Asia, Europe, and the Middle East in strengthening systems (Health system, food security, pension, income generation, protection, migration, and climate change)
- I supported the seven countries in developing strategic plans (10 years) and Business plans (2020-2022)
- Build and maintain partnerships with UNFPA, WHO, national governments, and the African Union to champion and advocate strong policies on health systems for older persons.
- I also built relations with subregional blocks such as the East African Community (EAC), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to champion policy and ratify treaties related to older persons, gender and disability, and youth.
- Managed seven country directors and five program specialists (based in different parts of the world)
- I led capacity building and documented the voices of older people on the impact of inadequate pensions on their well-being, as inLebanon and Palestine.
- Equally, I coordinated teams of HelpAge staff to document the impact of fuel, food, and financial crises on the well-being of adults and children in Ethiopia, Malawi, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
- Visited or held virtual discussions with staff to support program monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) and ensure the framework's implementation
- Conducted program reviews, coordinated evaluations, and facilitated shared learning from evaluations
- Established links with the Universities of Nairobi and Makerere for research, shared learning, dissemination of best practices, and establishment of a regional learning and knowledge hub with the Universities of Nairobi and Rwanda.
- Similarly, I collaborated with the London School of Economics to research and design an evidence-based program on decent work for older people and youth.
- Coordinated and led fundraising and grant management by building strong relationships with grantees and donors
- Ensured regional and country planning, budgeting, fiscal accountability, and compliance with various institutional and private donors, with over $30 million
- Applied effective time management techniques to meet tight deadlines.
