Duties and responsibilities:

  • Enhancing the guest meal experience by welcoming the guest, explaining the food and beverage selection in the restaurant, and recommending food and beverages to the guest.
  • Acknowledge the guests' dietary and allergy concerns, and recommend alternatives based on the guests' preferences.
  • Explaining the sommelier's wines of the day and also recommending the best wines to pair with different foods.
  • Explaining the daily specials to the guests, including the reserve wines, revenue items, and ensuring proper charges to the guest account, as well as billing after the dessert.
  • Interacting with the guest to ascertain their food and beverage satisfaction while promptly handling any complaints that the guest may have.
  • Informing the guest of any special events or shows happening on the ship, as well as on the following days' ports of call, and providing information that will enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintaining the company's standard operating procedures and full compliance with USPH standards to ensure safe, hygienic food service.
  • Participating in the monthly restaurant inventory to ensure that there are enough pieces of equipment on my station to cover the operation.
