Program Director for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa

Oversee the implementation and ensure the overall success of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa, the first of its kind in the university.

Achievements

  • Exceeded the recruitment target by 15% (145 Scholars) over and above the 1000 Scholars target. This was achieved in a record 5 years instead of the 6 years initial plan.
  • Achieved 21% recruitment of Refugees and Displaced persons (RDP), (target 25%) and youth with disability (YWD) 6% (target 5%).
  • Reached 20 Refugee camps and settlements across 14 African countries that resulted into 240 Refugees and Displaced persons accessing the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa.
  • Established over 60 partnerships with non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, government agencies and private sector industries to support the recruitment, preparation and transitions of Mastercard Foundation Scholars. This resulted into over 505 Scholars accessing internships and job placements.
  • Introduced rolling basis application cycle for Refugees and Displaced youth and youth with disabilities this helped to increase the number
  • Efficiently utilized the Program overall budget, realizing savings that helped to recruit additional 145 Scholars.
  • Ensured recruitment of students who meet the Mastercard Foundation Scholars’ program and USIU Africa guidelines, policies and procedures in the categories of Refugees and displaced persons, youth with disability and young women.
  • Led the implementation over 50 Community action projects.
  • Drafted the quarterly and monthly reports to communicated Program key milestones and learnings.
