Summary
As a recent graduate of Emory University, I am currently seeking a
job for my gap year before going on to pursue my PhD in Linguistics.
I double-majored in Linguistics and Creative writing and graduated
Emory with High Honours in Linguistics.
During my time at Emory and in the summers in between, I have
gained valuable leadership, collaboration, and research experience.
I served as an intern at my local newspaper for my first summer as a
college student. In this position, I developed valuable people skills as
well as honed my writing for journalism.
I was a sophomore advisor my second year at Emory. In this
volunteer experience, I was able to aid freshman in their transition
to college life. I later used this experience to help me as a resident
counsellor at Duke TIP, where I was responsible for a group of
fourteen 12- to 13-year-olds. In both positions, I created fun and
enriching programming for my residents, as well as providing
emotional support and advice when needed.
During Spring 2020, I studied abroad in Amsterdam, which provided
me with more experience than I ever expected. Not only did I gain
experience living in another culture, but I learned to adapt to extreme
circumstances. The COVID-19 pandemic took us all off-guard, but I
was able to navigate the world's panic to return home and excel in
my studies regardless.
Thanks to my dedication to my studies, I qualified for the Dean's List
every semester of my time at Emory. I was inducted into Phi Beta
Kappa honour society during my junior year. During my senior year,
I developed and completed an honours thesis in Linguistics that I
received High Honours for.
