
I am a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with outstanding academic, communication, organizational, and people skills. An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, I hold a PhD in Law (International Human Rights) with 10 years of experience in legal practice and 12 years academia. My passion lies in human rights, and development, having worked extensively with civil society actors in Kenya and regionally for the last 5 years. As CEO of the East African Centre for Human Rights (EACHRights), I run governance and human rights projects. I publish articles on human rights issues affecting us, as a way of my social responsibility. In recognition of my work, I made it to the Top 100 list of French African Young Leaders in 2021, earning myself an opportunity to be trained on leadership and development in France and Senegal. I also received the Civil Society of the Year Award 2021, from the Law Society of Kenya, in recognition of my contribution to the work the Civil Society undertakes in Kenya.
Roles
§ Organizational Leader: Collaborating with colleagues in the organization to steer it towards its strategic plan and ensuring the quality of programs and partnerships for the organization.
§ Strategic Leadership: Leader of the workforce, representing the organization in high-level meetings/engagements, help staff internalize and actualize the organization's vision, mission and strategy.
§ Project Management: Overseeing 4 projects from initiation, definition and planning, execution, implementation, control -monitoring and evaluation, and close out.
§ Team manager: Procuring the requisite staff at a reasonable cost, ensuring they are oriented properly, provided with the equipment they need to deliver. As team builder I ensure staff satisfaction and subsequent retention.
§ Strategic partnerships and resource mobilization: Oversee fundraising activities including planning appropriate strategies for responsible management of organizations funds.
§ Ensuring visibility of the organization and its projects: Popularizing the organization through stakeholder engagements, constant media advocacy, publication of opinion pieces on various human rights concerns among others.
