Key Achievements

· Effective Communication: Despite challenging circumstances, such as the 2020 conflict and limited phone communication in Tigray, I successfully maintained regular contact with our staff. This enabled me to keep the Senior Management Team at headquarters informed about the security status on the ground. I successfully maintained regular contact with staff, through reliance on my network and the successful implementation and use of VSAT as an alternative communication channel, enabling Senior Management access to security status updates during the 2020 conflict in Tigray.

· Ensuring Staff Safety: Operating in a highly stressful environment, I prioritized the safety of our staff by implementing robust security measures. Through comprehensive risk assessments and meticulous planning, I successfully ensured that our programs could operate without exposing staff to unnecessary dangers.

· Advisory Role: By providing timely and accurate security advice, I played a crucial role in facilitating staff access to program locations. This support enabled smooth program implementation while mitigating potential risks.

· Policy Development: I spearheaded the formulation of security policies, creating a robust framework to guide our organization's security practices. Additionally, I authored the Critical Incident Management Protocols (CIMPS), which serve as a vital resource for managing unforeseen security incidents effectively.

· Collaborative Support: In response to requests from other programs within the country, I extended my support to enhance their safety management practices. By sharing best practices, conducting training, and offering guidance, I contributed to the overall strengthening of security measures across programs.

Training and Evacuation Preparedness: Recognizing the importance of staff preparedness, I developed a comprehensive Security Training Curriculum. Through this curriculum, I facilitated training sessions to equip our staff with essential skills and knowledge to respond effectively in various security scenarios. Additionally, I successfully coordinated and executed staff evacuations when necessary, ensuring their safety during critical situations.

• Facilitated compliance audits as part of the Safety Risk Management (SRM) system, including, Minimum Operating Safety Standards (MOSS) and Safely Level System (SLS) audits

• Trained local staff and mentored Local Safety Officers (LSOs) and Safety Focal Points (SFPs), including Personal Awareness and Safety Training, staff inductions, and training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Key Achievements

· Enhancing MOSS Compliance:Through diligent efforts, I successfully improved MOSS (Minimum Operating Security Standards) compliance across all 8 stations, surpassing acceptable standards with a compliance rate of over 90%. This achievement ensured that our operations were conducted in a secure and protected environment.

· Strengthening Relationships: I proactively worked on improving relationships with key security stakeholders, including the police, fostering a better understanding between our organization, the host community, and government representatives.

Support to Other Programs: When called upon, I provided valuable support to other programs within the region to enhance their safety management practices. By sharing best practices, offering guidance, and conducting training, I contributed to the overall improvement of safety standards across programs

• Delivered classroom inputs and facilitated dynamic and interesting training courses in the facilitation of the following courses: Hostile Environment Individual Safety Training (HEIST), Crisis response training, Emergency Medical Training packages
• Promoted the development of new training courses with the Training Manager in line with adult Learning methodologies
• Developed course appraisal and feedback systems Logistics
• Organised training logistics and prepared training schedules, and I was responsible for advertising
• Advanced planning & preparation for courses in conjunction with the Training Assistant

• Actively took part in the training of paramilitary officers in various security-related courses over 7 years
• Successfully supervised newly recruited officers throughout their training period, ensuring their successful completion of the courses
• Led multiple security operations in volatile regions of Kenya, to eliminate armed and dangerous criminals
• Served as an Instructor at the General Service Unit Training School in Embakasi, imparting knowledge and skills to aspiring paramilitary officers
• Acquired specialized training as a paramilitary instructor, enhancing teaching abilities and instructional techniques
• Deployed to different parts of the country, serving in various capacities to contribute to the maintenance of peace and security
• Recruited into the esteemed General Service Unit (G.S.U), reflecting exceptional competence and dedication to the security field
• Attended several high-level securities training programs, including VIP protection, vital installations protection, and counterterrorism, among others, further enhancing expertise and knowledge in the field.
