One of my proudest achievements as a nutritionist was during a community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) program I supported in northern Kenya. I noticed that many caregivers were defaulting from the outpatient therapeutic program due to long distances and lack of understanding of treatment. I worked with the local health team to introduce a mobile nutrition outreach system and trained community health volunteers to follow up with families. Within six weeks, we increased treatment adherence by 42%, and the cure rate for severe acute malnutrition improved significantly. Additionally, I developed a simple, pictorial counseling tool on infant and young child feeding (IYCF), which was adopted by several health facilities in the sub-county. This achievement taught me the value of tailoring interventions to local context and the impact of strong community engagement. It also strengthened my confidence in program design and monitoring, which I bring to every role I take on
