  • Achievements: Ensured the overall Safaricom network availability of greater than 99.8% was achieved consistently from 2012 to 2024 while managing the Network operation expenses(NOPEX) & Capital expenditure(CAPEX) to meet the set Fiscal Year Business planning targets
  • Preparation of request for proposal (RFP) documentation, request for quotation(RFQ) documentation
  • Spare Parts Management services (SPMS)Project management and SPMS contract preparations to enable onboarding of the Safaricom PLC Spare Parts Management services(SPMS) contractors in FY 2017, FY2020 and FY2022
  • Supported the Safaricom network Planning, Design and Engineering teams and ensured the purchase and inclusion of spare equipment’s in all projects at 5% of the total Capital expenditure(CAPEX) on project equipment’s
  • This was to ensure consistent, timely and successful completion of all Network equipment installation CAPEX projects
  • On completion of Network equipment installation CAPEX projects coordinated and managed the transfer of the network project spare equipment to the maintenance, operations and support departments to support the Network Opex (NOPEX) projects and ensured the achievement of greater than 99.8% network equipment availability and network service availability
  • Identified the installed network equipment including 5G RAN equipment’s which did not meet the original equipment manufacturers (OEM)Mean time before failure(MTBF) criteria after installation and followed up with OEMs to mitigate and address any risk on the overall Safaricom network service availability
  • Being part of an Agile squad involving the Safaricom PLC Finance, Technology & Supply chain management departments
  • We initiated a productivity initiative which involved identification of any surplus project equipment in the network Data centres to be transferred to the spares warehouse to support the network during the financial year 2023 to 2024
  • As at 9/2/2024 we had identified 769 surplus Access Network project equipment’s, Transmission network project equipment & Core network project equipment's worth 4,551,646 USD at the Safaricom PLC Datacentres which were transferred to the Network Operation and maintenance Spares warehouse to support and maintain the network
  • This resulted in 4,551,646 USD worth of Network operations expenses (NOPEX) savings during the fiscal year 2023 to 2024
  • As the Capex warehouse Agile pop up squad we also managed to move aged network equipment’s worth 10,852,713 USD
  • From the Capex warehouse which we transferred to the Network spares warehouse to support the network
  • This resulted in Network operations expenses (NOPEX) savings of 10,852,713 USD during the fiscal year 2023 to 2024.
  • Provided independent technical reviews of operational procedures and plans to eliminate functional bottlenecks.
  • Designed administrative and maintenance procedures to provide optimal service uptimes and minimize service disruptions.
  • Developed and maintained standardized operating procedures for numerous functions and tasks to streamline [Type] operations.

  • Achievements: Modernized the then 2G (GSM) RAN equipment to 3G network RAN equipment by upgrading the network equipment
  • Achieved the digital transformation of the network resulting in improvement of network service availability, network reliability, energy cost efficiency and in energy cost savings with a huge impact on the network operation expenses(NOPEX)
  • Ensured no incident or accidents was experienced on all company sites by championing and by following up of the mandatory occupational health and safety precautions to be taken by the engineers i.e

  • Achievements: Led and coordinated internal and contracted Telecommunication equipment installation teams to deliver Radio Access Network rollout, Radio Access Network (RAN) modernization and optimization targets in the Safaricom PLC Network
  • From March 2006 to April 2009, the team installed, commissioned, integrated, and put on Air over 450 new Radio Base Transceiver sites (BTS)
  • This was the highest number of sites ever put on air in one fiscal year since Safaricom began in 2000
  • As Telecom Implementation Team Manager surpassed site Integration and Debar targets in May 2007 and I was recognized by the senior leadership team as Employee of the Month of May 2007
  • Succeeded in saving the company 2,327,679 USD in Network Rollout costs particularly in the installation/commissioning and integration of Radio Access Network equipment which the team completed
  • All new HC (High capacity) BSC and Transcoder installations were done by the team.
