• Tracked project construction schedule and provide educated advice to project director on potential delays and claims from contractor. Additionally, involved in project schedule discussions with contractor and flagged irregularities in schedule logic and links. Reviewed and tracked project schedule activities visive project site activities for contractor payments.
• Reviewed project plans, specifications, and design codes (OBO, IBC & ACI) to ensure that the shop drawings and submittals developed by the contractor are conforming to the project contract documents.
• Did daily construction inspection of workmanship, materials, and methodology of construction utilized on-site. During this inspection, I was able to ensure that construction process is done within standards to reduce effect of reworks and potential delay claims. However, in event that this was not captured, I provided recommendations on how to correct deficiencies and resolve problems during construction.
• Maintained daily log of construction activities. Observed execution of construction and ensured it adheres to approved drawings, specifications, and code. I recorded this on daily, Weekly, and other progress reports with digital photographic records to support reports.
• Developed change orders including preparation of statement of works (Sow) and Independent government estimates (IGE) for project modification that came up during life of project. After receiving contractor proposal, I reviewed its cost and compliance with the change. Finally held negotiations with the contractor to settle on the final price.
• Monitored construction safety during daily. Ensured that the constructor develops and adheres to the construction safety standards per EM-385-1-1.
• Participated and contributed to Project site meeting of Safety, Quality control, and Coordination meetings.

Achievements

• Successfully complete 90% of project with minor construction safety incidences and injuries with millions of tons of rebars and concrete placed and millions of tons of earthworks moved. Project is on schedule and within budget.
• To track construction daily log of activities, I developed and effective systems to track the activities using the project baseline activity numbers on the excel sheets. Developed sheets were comprehensive that it capture all day's activity, labor and equipment utilized by contractor onsite. This went in a long way to evaluate contractor delays and claims.
• To effectively compare Independent government estimates to contractor proposal, I developed simple but effective excel sheets to capture labor, equipment and materials including all the overhead and profits. This was a fundamental tool during the proposal discussion with the contractor. With this in use we have developed over 40 RFPs and IGES for projects.
• Roads for the project were specified to be flexible pavement (ACC), however it was really difficult to find subcontractor to supply the materials that shall meet the project specification. I advised the contractor to look into rigid pavement (PCC) as an option. This discussion in the end help the project meet it specification and help in putting the project on track with zero impact on the schedule.
• After the embassy acquired the west lot land, I developed parking layout for the embassy staff. That improved the parking slots by 40%. Utilization my skill and knowledge of Civil 3D software I was able to reduce the extents of cut and fills by 50%. This in returned greatly reduce the cost impact of developing this land. Additionally for future use I designed a catch basin to connect the site Stormwater to the existing project.
• Successfully acted as the project construction manager for the US embassy residential project that consisted of 72 apartment building and 18 townhouses. Ensure that the project was compliant by code and specification.

• Carried out detailed Civil and structural engineering design, Analysis, and Calculation. Developed detailed construction drawings, submittals, and specifications to be utilized on-site and for client's approval after designs were finalized.
• Reviewed and responded to UHCR, UN, and Other organizational clients' RFPs, including preparation of conceptual site plans, basis of design narratives, and estimates. Moreover, I was involved in tendering process of different projects (Civil, Structural & Architectural works) and developed technical and financial proposals for submission.
• Worked with project manager to supervise, manage and coordinate all work on projects including subcontractors and laborers. Provided Civil and Structural Engineering advice to Project Managers, Site Managers, and Site Engineers to enable them successfully complete projects per specification and code requirements.
• Aided in preparation of bid packages and specifications for sub-contractors.
• Participated in supervision of structural steel erection with site engineers to ensure design specifications and safety procedures are met.
• Frequently traveled for site reconnaissance survey to ensure that all site requirements are captured in tender proposal submission.
• Developed project schedules and monitored these schedules during construction phase of project. Frequently updated project manager on potential delays and assisted them in fast-tracking activities to ensure that these delays are averted.

Achievements

• Traveled to Bamako, Mali to operate FrameCAD master machine that was to produce 20tons of light gauge steel for project in Timbuktu. I had to build capacity of local laborers. I additionally, enhanced their skills in erection of such Structure on site in Timbuktu. By the end of the exercise I had placed the project on schedule and aided the company avoid delay claims from the Swedish Army in Timbuktu.
• Developed drafting standards for the company that aligns with international standards for drafting and drawing presentation to be used for all the tender submissions.
• Acted as the company architect for the project tender bidding and submissions. I successfully bid for the CAR World Bank renovation and completed this project within the budget and schedules.
• Developed a harmonized project financial proposal document across all the engineering disciplines (Civil, Structural, architectural, Mechanical & Electrical) that conforms to the RS Means standards for developing construction cost rates for financial tender proposal.

• Developed structural design of light gauge steel trusses using FrameCAD pro and detailer per the architectural plans provided.
• Prepared Quotation for the Light Gauge steel trusses construction per plan.
• Developed schedule, pre-planning, and resource forecasting for the engineering and other technical activities related to the project to ensure timely completion.
