• Maneno of Tumaini Academy in Kwale County, writing the proposal of a project that was to take care of community health
• I got first hands experience in project planning and development
• My responsibilities were to come up with sub-projects that could be implemented to improve the livelihood of the people living within the Golini region of Kwale County
• I also drafted a proposal indicating the same, including the budget and project timelines
• I met all the required deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Performing budgeting plans for upcoming Heavy Checks (C-checks, MODs, Engine Changes, STCs, etc.). And any other maintenance that has more than five days of ground time for the next financial year.

-Provide man-hours, manpower, and ground time needed per check for all heavy checks in a calendar year in the assigned fleet.

-Review of all planned heavy maintenance plans within a year with both production and back-office staff to align the checks for execution.

-The project manager is responsible for all heavy checks, both in-house and outsourced, from when the aircraft docks at the hangar to when the aircraft leaves for flight.

-Provide management with a detailed daily progress report and analysis of all heavy checks being undertaken in the hangars.

-Carrying out post-check activities (package closure and updating of accomplishment details in the MRO system) and planning for post-check meetings to discuss what can be improved in future checks.

-Carrying out corrective action plans on defects (ADDs, CNRs, etc.) during checks to increase aircraft reliability after maintenance.

-Execution of third-party aircraft work for other airlines seeking heavy maintenance services (from package preparation all the way to execution of the check and closure).

• Forecasted maintenance schedules and adjusted plans to accommodate changes in demand.
• Created and implemented tracking systems to monitor task accomplishment and deferrals.
• Liaised between engineering teams, Operations control center, and Asset Services representatives to ensure seamless integration of all aspects of line maintenance.
• Developed customized reports for stakeholders, presenting key performance indicators that informed decision-making.

Plan and prepare work packages for aircraft and component maintenance checks, including the accomplishment of modifications, Service Bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and Engineering Orders.

Plan for timely availability of ground time, capacity, materials, equipment, and tooling to ensure a maintenance work package is fully executable.

Control and evaluate the work progress on the aircraft and component checks, and give feedback on the status of the maintenance check.

• Prepare and update aircraft and component maintenance status records.

Create and update detailed short-term maintenance plans on aircraft checks, incorporating deferred defects, component changes, and ADs/SBs for a window of at least 3 months.

• As an officer in line maintenance, my key responsibilities were: timely and accurate capturing of aircraft on the relevant engineering maintenance system (OASES) to reflect all aircraft defects, flight hours/cycles, and component changes for review, audits, reliability, and warranty claims.
• Timely provision of hours/cycles of removed components to avoid penalty on exchange components and to facilitate maintenance.
• Review aircraft maintenance records for completeness, simplify, and file them in respective folders for easy access, as per KCAA regulations and KQ policies.
• Responded promptly to requests for information from internal departments or external parties, fostering positive working relationships throughout the organization.
• Maintained accuracy of records by verifying accuracy of data in records.

• BASE MAINTENANCE Working in the various subsections gave me firsthand experience in: Problem solving which required quick thinking and vast knowledge in the field and a lot of creativity
• Great decision making- the decisions made had to be feasible and economical
• Wrong decisions could lead to catastrophic damages
• Excellent planning skills- every task to be carried out on the aircraft had to be carefully planned to ensure smooth execution
• Poor planning could lead to revenue loss colliding task manpower and working hours could also be wasted
• Punctual execution of tasks- every task planned for had to be completed in the set time frames
• Any delays could lead to the extension of the period the aircraft was to be on ground
• Team work- great co-ordination between the team leader and the responsible members was very essential

• I was attached at lukwise technologies for 12 weeks
• Being a software development company I got practical experience in software and web development and design
• As an attaché I was able to: Design, develop and host websites

• I worked as an attaché for Sea Submarine Communications LTD, Seacom at the Mombasa cable landing station
• I got hands on experience with: IP equipment such as routers and switches
• Network management systems like: -TEMS (TYCO ELEMENTS MONITORING SYSTEM) NMS which monitors all the submarine related equipment-the three fiber pair's traffic, power usage and alarms and the undersea repeaters power reception from the PFE
• T2000 which monitors the SDH equipment and gives all the alarms present and record of all the clients accessing it
• IPNMS used to monitor the IP network
• Transmission equipment (SDH &DWDM) SEACOM has two types of submarine line terminating equipment (SLTE), the TYCO SLTE and the CIENA DWDM
• Test gears like the Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), Optical Laser Attenuator (OLA), Optical Power Meter and Optical Laser Source
• VSAT and Fiber Optic cable technology ( handled several types of fiber optic connectors like the SC, FC, LC and ST and also dealt with both multimode and single mode fibers)

• SEACOM uses a TYCO power feed equipment to provide power to its optical amplifiers at sea

• My responsibilities included: Performing routine maintenance on station equipment like the Generator sets (GENSETs)-187 KV generators-, the PFE, air cons and fire systems
• Monitoring the IP & Transmission network
• Attending to network faults and network trouble shooting
• Working with contractors during installation (mounting of ODF, router configuration, fiber splicing, equipment installation) and attending to Seacom customers
• The SEACOM equipment were mostly from the following manufacturers- TYCO, CIENA, CISCO, and HUAWEI.
