Role Purpose: The Compliance Business Partner serves as an embedded advisor within business functions and Health Heart Africa (HHA) Health Equity Program, working to guide, monitor, and enable compliant business operations across multiple countries, each with their own legal frameworks, serving as a visible advocate for ethical behavior, supporting leadership and teams in making risk-informed decisions and embedding a “speak up” culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Training and Capacity building, designing and delivering compliance training to employees and some of the external partners on Ethics and Transparency in business activities including anti-bribery/anti-corruption, promotional practices, patient safety, data privacy among others.
• Support the SSA Business and to proactively monitor business activities, identifying potential risks such as bribery, corruption, any non-compliant interactions with healthcare professionals, government officials, or third parties, guiding them to tailor risk mitigation plans to each country or business unit’s needs.
• Support Healthy Heart Africa (HHA) a Health Equity program in identifying and mitigating potential risks in launching and running the based Health Equity Program focusing on Hypertension and Chronic Kidney Disease in specific countries in Africa.
• Oversee routine monitoring and auditing processes, tracking compliance performance, supporting local investigations into suspected breaches and working with business to ensure that corrective actions are implemented on timely basis.
• Support in development of Global Standards as well as ensuring implementation and Localization ensuring that teams understand and can operate within these rules and requirements.
• Sit in the African Cluster governance Committee together other stakeholders in legal, Medical, Regulatory and Patients’ Safety to review and approve business projects and Transform care initiatives in Africa before execution.
• Co-chair the African Cluster Quarterly Local Compliance Committee meetings that brings together senior representatives from various departments—such as Compliance, Legal, Medical, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, and Commercial—to support and oversee all aspects of compliance within the African cluster business.

Role Purpose: To Implement an effective Compliance Framework in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) Distributor markets, in line with AZ expectations, supporting the Distributors in MEA embed an ethical Culture and Compliance Framework awareness.

Key Responsibilities

• Partnering with and providing guidance to Relationship Managers and other key stakeholders in the Marketing Companies in MEA, to ensure a seamless execution of an effective Compliance Framework.
• Providing guidance and proactively partnering with Distributor Management Framework (DMF) leads and other business stakeholders on Compliance Risk Assessment and Risk Management related to interactions and operations of MEA Distributors.
• Provide advice to and consulting on the effective implementation and maintenance of First Line Monitoring and Management oversight related to the activities of MEA distributors.
• Develop tools and to assess robustness and effectiveness of governance and compliance framework of distributors and identify gaps in understanding of expectations and agreed compliance principles.
• Develop relevant training materials and deliver compliance training and awareness campaign internally and to the Distributors.

Role Purpose: Extended responsibility to support the entire African Cluster business and management in the promotion and assessment of compliance with regulations, guidelines, and operating procedures in Sub Sahara Africa, French Speaking Africa, South Africa and Health Heart Africa (HHA) Health Equity Program.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing meaningful assurance around the business activities and developing recommendations that strengthen controls and add value to the SSA business and Healthy Heart Africa Programs.
• Identifying emerging compliance assurance needs and shaping assurance plans from knowledge of external business environment, Astrazeneca strategy and processes.
• Identifying, assessing and developing monitoring plans that address compliance risks both in the context of specific assurance activities and within the organization’s risk appetite.
• Developing assurance activities that address the future sustainability challenges in business activities.
• Conducting local investigations and support the global investigations when required.
• Communicating assurance and investigation findings and recommendations to the business in a credible manner so the business is clear about why findings matter.
• Anticipating and influencing changes for the benefit of the enterprise and its ongoing sustainability while applying sound judgment.
• Supporting the business in development of polices and guidelines that provide minimum controls and mitigation actions based on AstraZeneca’s values, standards and regulatory requirements.
