  • Provide oversight and coordination of the tasks of HomeNet Africa in particular:
  • Convene scheduled meetings and capacity building to strengthen the regional platform and support progress towards establishing new networks or strengthening existing democratic home-based workers’ networks in the five countries, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda
  • Develop and institute a financial management system that supports proper receipt, utilization, and accountability of resources from funding/support organizations
  • Oversight of the technical support for the alternative livelihoods pilot to national networks/organisations
  • Support the implementation of the research outcomes on socio-economic livelihoods of home-based workers carried out by WIEGO, HNI and other research-based institutions
  • With support from HNI document the organization building experiences across the region for institution building and knowledge expansion
  • Coordination of all communications and activities in all countries in particular;
  • Maintaining regular contact with the national networks for increasing the visibility of home-based workers from the region on a national, regional, and global level
  • Provide HomeNet International with narratives of home-based workers from the region regularly for featuring on HNI website
  • Distributing monthly data bundles to the HNA country representatives
  • To serve on the HNI Executive Committee as Regional Coordinator for the Africa region and work closely with the two regional representatives to take forward the mandate from Africa and to report back fully on all developments around HomeNet International
  • Work in close coordination with HNI International Coordinator and Regional Coordinators of HNSEA, HNSA, HNEE&CA and COTRADO Alac for global activities, especially relevant to the Africa region
  • To establish contact with HBW organizations in other countries beyond the existing five countries and to undertake field visits to existing and new countries to increase the regional membership
  • To support and advise the current national organizations in all five countries in the region
  • Provide quarterly coordination reports on all regional network building support and the mapping of new home-based worker groups in the region
  • Until HNA ExCom is in place, report to HNA representatives on HNI ExCom along with HNI International Coordinator
  • Participate in meetings (virtual and in person) as and when required e.g., regional, international, and project-based meetings (e.g., Ford Foundation and Comic Relief)
  • Participate in MLE training programs to be trained and implement the learnings for the Africa region
  • Provide narrative and financial reports to HomeNet International (for all annual activities), to HNI & WIEGO (for Comic Relief project) and other funders wherever needed
  • Fund raising for the region with support from HNI
