As a Board member, I participated in Board activities in order to:

• Establish and abolish offices in the County Public Service.
• Appoint persons to hold or act in office of Public Further, County Offices including in the boards of urban areas within the county and to confirm appointments.
• Exercise disciplinary control over and remove, persons holding or acting in those offices as provided for under this part.
• Prepare regular reports for submission to the county assembly on the execution of the functions of the board.
• Promote in the county public service the values and principles referred to in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
• Evaluate and report to the county assembly on the extent to which the values and principles referred to in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 are complied with in the county public service.
• Facilitate the development of coherent, integrated human resource planning and budgeting for personnel emoluments in the county.
• Advise the county government on human resource management and development.
• Advise county government on implementation and monitoring of the national performance management system in the county.
• Make recommendations to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, on behalf of the county government, on the remuneration, pensions and gratuities for county public service employees.

• Assessed analysed, implemented and continuously monitored health programs in Area of responsibility (AoR), directly on site or by long distance management.
• Developed a good understanding of the health system, and the constraints and strengths in a complex political setting in Taiz governorate.
• Maintained regular contact with Ministry of Public health and population (MoPHP) and all other health counterparts, to support the Health facilities in order to improve access and provision of quality preventative and curative health services with a continuum of care approach.
• Maintained coordination with other organizations and the UN agencies involved in health activities in order to avoid duplication;
• Coordinated activities with the local authorities and all other relevant stakeholders.

• According to access and security, assessed health services in urban and rural Aleppo with a focus on the treatment and care of the wounded and sick and provided medical assistance based on needs.
• Assisted the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) to enable them to maintain their emergency response capacity based on the needs of the branch and sub-branches.
• Followed up the PHC program of SARC medical structures and support to SARC clinics in Aleppo, providing basic health care in affected areas.
• Represented the ICRC in meetings with health authorities and other organisations on health related issues in government and opposition controlled areas.
• Liaised with Aleppo Directorate of health (DoH) and coordinated with Health Coordinator in Damascus to facilitate ICRC’s medical support.
• Monitored the health situation of internally displaced persons ( IDPs), identified specific health problems and their access to health care.

• Assisted the South Sudan Red Cross (SSRC) to enable them maintain their emergency response capacity based on the needs of the branch and sub-branches.
• Followed up and supported Ministry of health medical structures in locations prone to conflict and, provided basic health care in affected areas.
• Represented the ICRC in meetings with health authorities and other organizations on health related issues.
• Monitored the health situation of internally displaced persons (IDPs), identified specific health problems and their access to health care.

• Organized and implemented First Aid training for armed weapon bearers (Police and military) in order to develop their capacities on First Aid management of casualties at the front lines.

• Supervised the development and implementation of Maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH), family planning and nutrition programs and program monitoring activities in Turkana County.
• In liaison with the Health Coordinator and Area Program Manager, developed proposals to donors to fund new and innovative program efforts for Turkana in conjunction with local partners and colleagues.
• Ensured project goals and milestones were met effectively, in accordance with project budgets and work plans.
• Developed the implementation capacity of counterparts and partners by providing technical assistance.
• Communicated information on program activities, lessons learned and best practices at county and community levels through presentations at meetings.
• Compiled and submitted donor reports (Project was funded by European Union) and related publications that enhanced the exposure of project.
• Supervised the financial and administrative management of the project and complied with budgetary allocations, donor requirements, and Save the Children policies.
• Contributed to the improvement of MNCH, nutrition and family planning services in Turkana County through liaison with the Ministry of Health, related agencies, donors, and other partner institutions.
• Ensured the integration of program efforts by collaborating with program colleagues and other county staff.
• Followed up project routine monitoring and supervision plan in liaison with the County health management team (CHMT) - conducted joint monitoring and supervision visits to the supported health facilities.
• Took lead in guidance and documentation of best practices in the project - including case studies from beneficiaries. These case studies were submitted to donors as required.
• Represented Save the Children (SC) and maintained working relationship with relevant host government ministries, UN agencies, International and local non-governmental health organizations with a mandate to promote the MNCH agenda in Turkana County.
• Supported the initiation of two maternity waiting shelters in Turkana South and Loima Sub Counties, Turkana County. These waiting shelters improved access of pregnant women to a skilled attendant, hence, reducing maternal mortality rate in the Sub Counties.

• Facilitated Rapid Hygiene & Sanitation Promotion in coordination with the Ministry of public health and sanitation (MoPHS) staff and other relevant partners.
• Distributed the emergency WASH supplies (NFIs) such as soap, jerrycans, House hold water treatment supplies (HHWTS) technologies such as water filters and chlorine tablets - including training in their use.
• Assessed Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) needs in the Health Centres / feeding centres and identified the necessary repairs to WASH infrastructure.
• Trained the Community health workers on hygiene promotion & Household water treatment supplies (HHWTS) with focus to diarrhea prevention.
• Promoted the use of oral rehydration solution (ORS) and Zinc sulphate (additionally for children) in the management of diarrhea.
• Implemented and supervised all MERLIN sanitation construction activities (construction of VIP latrines, Hand washing points and hardware activities related to WASH).
• Provided capacity-building on WASH (with focus to hygiene promotion in cholera prevention) for district staff in the supported health structures.
• Participated actively with interagency water, sanitation, and related forums on behalf of MERLIN – attended WASH cluster meetings.
• Consulted with peer and UN agencies on international standards with regards to program design and implementation.
• Participated in the development of concept papers and proposal writing on WASH project development.

• Together with the medical team designed the strategy, the health messages and the tools to implement hygiene promotion (HP) information, education and communication in the communities.
• Developed and used the tools for HP and made adaptations as necessary.
• Pre-tested all new material that was used in health promotion activities.
• Ensured and supported the spread of health promotion messages in the community, inside and outside the clinic by health promotion sessions.
• Used the Home Visitors network as a bridge with the villages to give and to get any information about outbreaks in specific areas.
• Organized trainings on hygiene promotion for the teachers in schools and the home visitors working in 25 villages within the project location.
• Supported immunization campaigns conducted in the 25 villages whenever the communities moved to the far flung grazing areas with their livestock.
• Participated in defaulter tracing of children not fully immunized, antenatal mothers and TB patients – by use of the Home visitors network.

• Responsible for planning and executing NACC / TOWA project’s up scaling of Prevention of mother to Child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV in Turkana County.
• Designed and disseminated community specific IEC materials and messages.

• Developed comprehensive activity plans covering the time frame of the projects as set out in project proposal.
• Ensured the implementation of NACC / TOWA activities according to the implementation plan and budget.
