Responsibilities;

• Direct supervision of patients by monitoring, recording and reporting changes in their condition.
• Assisting in caring of patients by offering assistance in activities of daily living.
• Monitoring and conducting high quality and skilled deliveries of mothers in labor.
• Care of the newborn and managing newborn related complications.
• Daily examination and monitoring of postnatal mothers.
• Ordering vaccines and ensuring proper storage to maintain the cold chain. Also administering vaccines to all eligible individuals.
• Scrubbing and assisting the doctor in surgical procedures such as Cesarean Section, laparotomy, and other surgical procedures.
• Accompany medical specialists during ward rounds and conducting nursing ward rounds.
• Teach diabetic patient on how and where to inject insulin with regards to correct dosage, frequency and site to avoid possible complications.
• Administration of medication as per prescription and monitoring of possible adverse effects or reaction due to allergies while observing the five rights; right patient, right time, right drug, right dose, right route.
• Provide health education to patients and their family members on their prognosis and regarding the course of treatment.
• Assessing and formulating patient treatment plans and implementing in time and respect to the nursing ethics.
• Ensuring patient safety following the 6 international Patient Safety Goals (IPSGs); Patient identification, effective communication, safety of high alert medication, ensure correct site procedure and surgery, reduce the risk of healthcare associated infections, reduce the risk of patient harm resulting from falls.
• Maintaining and enforcing infection control standards per the hospital manual and observe the infection control bundles.
• Keeping DDA drugs safe and drug register properly per unit requirements.
