Support the overall team through selling advertising across FarmersMarket.ie classified categories both print and online. My main duties include populating the Farmers Market website and selling advertising in conjunction with the sales team. I also carry out sales calls to identify opportunities for growing revenue as well as to offer support to customers. Working along side the I.T. department having the opportunity to use the back-end system of the Farmers Market website.
I recently started working at a local dog and cat shelter. On weekends I spend my time here caring for and walking dogs that have been surrendered or found in Kildare. I adore this work as my own dog came from this shelter.
I was employed by Bidvest Noonan for 7 years working in Naas General Hospital. I worked alongside various staff members and the public whether it be patients or visitors. I take great pride in this experience ensuring the upmost cleanliness of the hospital. Being an essential worker during the Covid-19 pandemic gave me experience second to none.
Over a 6-month period I got the opportunity to gain knowledge and put into practice my studies at University College Dublin. I worked within the Beef, Sheep, Dairy and Pig sectors of agriculture.
One highlight of my time out on placement would be getting the opportunity to learn from such highly experienced staff at PIC Hermitage AI Centre in Co. Kilkenny.
For 3 months I worked at a sheep farm in Co. Wicklow. I got hands on experience with the lambing and breeding seasons.
Throughout my year at Killester I was given the opportunity to work alongside Moss Veterinary Clinic in Naas, Co. Kildare. This included shadowing Veterinary Doctors and Nurses as they carried out their daily activities at the practice. I was fortunate to be included on many surgeries and animal care.
Another practice I had the chance to work at was Troytown Veterinary Clinic in Co. Kildare. This was a specialised clinic for Private owned horses and racehorses.
While at Killester I also completed classes in Dog Grooming and CPR.
Skills I have gained since joining the Irish Farmers Journal are marketing skills, sales techniques, research skills networking and public speaking
