Duties

Architectural Design: Developing design concepts, detailed drawings, and construction documentation for residential, commercial, and institutional projects.
Client Engagement: Participating in client meetings to understand project requirements, present proposals, and incorporate feedback into design solutions.
Project Coordination: Collaborating with engineers, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of architectural designs within the broader project scope.
Site supervision: Conducting site visits to monitor construction progress, assess quality, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
Interior Design: Assisting in spatial planning, finishes selection, and integration of interior elements to complement architectural intent.
Urban Planning: Contributing to master planning and urban design initiatives, emphasizing contextual relevance, and sustainability.
Project documentation: preparing and reviewing architectural reports, specifications, and submission documents for approvals.

As a researcher at Taji Research, I have been actively engaged in studies focused on slum reformation, with a particular emphasis on the impact of low-cost housing in slum upgrading.

Research Works Undertaken.

• The protagonists of the Kambi Moto Low-Cost Housing Project.
• Currently undertaking research on slum upgrading efforts by the Mathare Mashimoni Housing Cooperative Society.

Duties:

• Transcribing, compiling, and editing professional papers and CPD seminar content to produce well- structured and academically referenced publications.
• Managed multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality editorial work.
• Kept up-to-date on industry trends and emerging topics to ensure the relevancy of published materials.
• Collaborated with writers to improve content structure and clarity, resulting in increased reader engagement.
• Enhanced publication quality by diligently proofreading and editing articles for grammar, spelling, and consistency.

• Participated in the workshop as an advisor and critic for Kaza Mwendo, a collaborative community design workshop, run jointly by the University of Montreal, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Shack Dwellers International (SDI-Kenya) and Kaza Mwendo Cooperative.
• This entailed spatial analysis to provide a solution to their lack of infrastructure, public amenities and housing on 80 acres of land in Kantafu, Machakos County.

I actively participated in the on-site construction and assembly of an administration block for junior golfers at Windsor Golf Club, built using Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT).

4th-year architectural attachment involving design development, site analysis, CAD drawings, stakeholder coordination, and project supervision for regulatory compliance.

3rd-year architectural attachment focused on supervising a Children's Home project, overseeing site works, ensuring regulatory compliance, and preparing site reports.
