Project Management attachment, at Kenyatta National Hospital, 2023

I got the opportunity to do my three months attachment at KNH,where i was under the project management department. I had a good experience there, meeting new people and working with them.This really boosted my team building skills. I also got to learn a lot about project management. For example, the responsibilities of each stakeholder involved in a project, how a project proposal is prepared, project planning, how to use the MS Project software when planning and scheduling project and basically social and Leadership skills.

skills i acquired

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations.
• Skilled at working independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

In my stay in school i have done a couple of projects that has positively impacted my project management skills. One of the projects was the development of a software on a student association website that i was part of: Jomo Kenyatta University Project Management Students Association (JKUMPSA). I collaborated with my team in our group to come up with the website. We did the following in our project activities:

• We came up with a project plan
• Did a risk assessment and formulated risk responses strategies to minimize potential delays and cost overruns
• We utilized Microsoft project and created a detailed project schedule
• Then we presented the project progress report to the project supervisor and we were able to receive positive feedback on the project
