Accelerator Programs Manager

  • Directly work with the COO in designing and managing in-country and cross-border accelerator programs that includes gender mainstreaming
  • Manage and supervise the cohort management of cohort sizes of at least 10 up to 39 program participants that include startups and government regulators in an accelerator program.

Co-created the 1st social media content strategy before the launch of Baraza Media Lab to create awareness for the new organization and build its online audience. I primarily managed their Instagram and Twitter pages which resulted in an online audience of 400+ people in 2 months before the company's launch.

Accomplishments

  • Coordinated and executed the inaugural BimaLab Africa program, powered by FSD Africa and Swiss Re Foundation, accelerating 10 startups in 10 African countries. The program was renewed for a second run focusing on 15 startups from 15 African countries and their respective government regulators. The programs had a budget of up to $240,000.
  • Coordinated and executed the inaugural BimaLab Ethiopia program powered by FSD Africa, FSD Ethiopia, Swiss Re Foundation and the Belinda and Melinda Gates Foundation, that had both virtual activities and in-country activities in Ethiopia.
  • Spearheaded a fast-paced 1 month intense training program, the NITI (Neo Insurer Training Initiative) pilot program powered by IFC and FSD Africa, that focused on innovation strategies for Nigerian corporate insurance companies.
  • Assisted in the research for the creation of the Startup Guide Nairobi book.
  • Supported the startups in the Cariplo Factory COOPEN Program 2.0, The Opportunities Are Here Project X Program, and the Hivos Creative Catalyst Program in tracking the utilization of grant funding for their proposed projects. Grants varied from $15,000 to $27,000.
  • Co-created the first content and social media marketing strategy for Baraza Media Lab to create awareness of the upcoming space, build an online audience and drive engagement.
  • Program Assistant in the inaugural Creative DNA 1.0 program powered by the British Council and supported by Fashion Scout UK.
  • Created and grew the Metta Nairobi Facebook Group members from zero to 500 members from December 2020 to February 2021.
  • As Community Lead, I managed the Metta Nairobi and Nairobi Garage community merger and the restructure of membership packages.
