  • Aerial Seeding on the Reclaimed Part of Maasai Mau Forest (Pilot Project): Part of a multi-institutional technical team that implemented the application of aerial seeding in support of the restoration of degraded forestlands and landscapes in Kenya (10% tree cover Kenya's National Strategy).
  • The Landscape Change Monitoring System Project: Land cover point interpretation and change attribution through the use of TimeSync Tool as part of facilitating the inventory for the seven (7) countries - Kenya, Malawi, Ethiopia, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Uganda.
  • Rwanda Natural Capital Accounting Project: Land, water and ecosystem accounting through modelling Land use dynamics through multi-temporal Land use assessments. - Land cover/use mapping.

Accomplishments

  • Part of the AIM4Forests Program supported by FAO: a successor of the IMPRESS program designed to provide a spatially referenced, probability-based, and geographically balanced sampling framework for estimating land use and forest cover change in Kenya under the REDD+ program. Additionally, with continued support from the AIM4Forests program, a data monitoring activity was initiated and is led by the Kenya Forest Service (KFS).
  • Part of the KFS Team of Experts tasked with the development of the UNFF Voluntary National Report: on the progress of the implementation of the United Nations Strategic Plan for Forests (UNSPF) and the Global Forest Goals (GFGs) to UNFF.
  • Part of the Technical Working Group for the Kenya Watershed Service Improvement Program (KWESIP): supported by the World Bank. Supporting the GIS/RS component by identifying project sites through the use cost-benefit ratio of restoration criteria.
