Reporting to the Advocacy Director

I am responsible for:

• Delivering on the vision for a combined top-down, bottom-up global strategy for a global Catholic campaign in the intersection of biodiversity and climate.
• Mobilizing new partnerships and growing existing communities of engagement in the global south nations.
• Developing and delivering public advocacy engagements to address climate justice.
• Working with partners and regional organizers across the world to provide mentoring support to Laudato Si' Animators, LSM members and partners engaged in biodiversity and climate advocacy campaigns.
• Supporting development and delivery of advocacy and campaigning modules in LSM's Laudato Si Animators (LSAs) trainings.
• Plan and deliver global activities to achieve campaign goals on biodiversity and climate change.
• Communications:- working to deliver high-quality communication strategies and materials to support the interventions.
• Conducting research and analyzing on campaign strategies and development.
• Representing organization in public facing events and moments.

Key achievements

• Developed and introduced biodiversity discourse within the movement, enabling LSM to become the Catholic voice in this discourse.
• Developed and maintained collaboration with the Vatican and other like-minded partners like Ministry of Environment in Kenya, Senegal, and Canada during the COP processes, UNEP, Faith for Earth, A Rocha International, WWF and Faith & Biodiversity UN Coordination Group.
• Designed and led advocacy training for LSM members across the globe.
• Established LSM's global advisory advocacy group and regional advocacy working groups in all the continents contributing to LSM's mission.
• Collaborated with the Catholic church to develop Africa Position papers (energy and biodiversity) to respond to the climate crisis.
• Empowered and connected our Catholic audience to participate in the Biodiversity COP15 as delegates.
• Developed and continuous shaping of biodiversity discourse within the Catholic Church and its affiliates.
• Experience working with marginalized communities in the Amazon, DRC, Kenya, Uganda, Philippines and indonesia in addressing biodiversity collapse and linkage to climate change.
• Developing campaign narratives through audience mapping and engagement.
• Developed a campaigns communication strategy to facilitate lifting up of impact stories in the Catholic communities.
• Supporting in Grant proposals and reporting.
• Continued lifting up and celebration of impact stories of change to the catholic community and global media platforms.

Reporting to Africa Campaigns Manager

Responsible for:

• Developing campaign strategies in International, regional and National climate justice engagements.
• Narrative mapping to develop cohesive messages across various campaigns
• Partner facing and building to ensure visibility for Purpose.
• Supporting fundraising for the Climate Justice Program.
• Mapping and developing partner facing avenues with government.
• Maintaining tactical control of project budgets and timelines to keep teams on-task and achieve schedule targets.
• Negotiating vendor contracts and managed relationships.
• Mapping and working with both international and local media to amplify advocacy engagements.
• Establishing cohesive team by inspiring confidence and offering guidance.

Key achievements:

• Under Daima Green spaces (National coalition), we ran public media campaign calling for better infrastructural development planning. Secured National government partnership in developing public participation platforms to deliver 'a city that people need' concepts.
• Under 'My Mark My City' Urban development campaign, we worked with the county government to include cycling lanes, beautify Nairobi city and developed a Nairobi county government strategy on building back better resilient cities with UNDP and UN-HABITAT.
• Supported the revamping of the Wangari Mathaai corner at Uhuru Park with the Nairobi County Government, an open peoples green space in Nairobi. We also developed a park upgrading plan with the Nairobi County Government.
• Working with the County Government of Kitui, we developed and implemented a renewable energy campaign that had us train women on clean and energy efficient cooking 'jikos', (cookers).
• Continued engagement with JIACTIVATE that promoted inclusion of young people within the political discourse and promoting access to sexual reproductive health services.
• With Save Lamu, we developed social and mainstream media campaign that celebrated Lamu town, its heritage and culture that would be impacted by the proposed coal plant.
• Through the SRHR campaign, we worked with the teenage mothers in the marginalized communities in Kajiado and Kilifi counties of Kenya to empower them through sexuality education.

Reporting to Campaign Manager

Responsible for:

• Collaborating with youth to help curate and deploy Clean Energy awareness campaign in 10 counties.
• Enhanced renewable energy success by developing and sustaining cross-functional relationships with personnel from industry, state agencies and other relevant organizations.
• Maintained open channels of communication between Youth, community and partners to facilitate collaboration, build consensus and achieve mutually-beneficial objectives.
• Collaborated with team to define campaign requirements and ensure seamless accurate standards.
• Encouraged good habits, modeled practical problem-solving for both campaign team and clients.

Key achievements

• Established local working groups on energy that worked with10 counties to develop proper energy planning within county governments.
• Supported in managing procurement and logistical procedures and policies.
• Managed 10 professional cyclists and about 15 support staff during campaign in all 10 counties.
• Raised awareness through mainstream and local media platforms calling for access to renewable, affordable, sustainable and efficient energy for all.
• Campaign communication facing on mainstream and social media.

National Convener

Responsible for:

• Representing this network in National conversations within Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Public,Youth and Gender Affairs.
• Mobilizing resources for all engagements from Donors.
• Leading KYCN county representatives plus executive team to ideate community led interventions on youth and advocacy in Climate Action.
• Developing campaign strategies and tactics to execute climate justice campaigns
• Conceptualizing and designing youth advocacy campaigns like 'Road to Durban' and 'Road to Paris' championing for youth space in higher level engagement.
• Creating county strategies with 19 County conveners and helped lead engaging interventions for local communities in environmental conservation.
• Partnering with cross-functional teams to conduct thorough discovery and due diligence on existing processes

Key achievements:

• Developed the 'We have faith' petition with partner organizations to call for youth inclusion within the UNFCCC negotiations and national governments.
• Through the above campaign, we were recognized and invited into the UNFCCC negotiations to deliver our Africa Youth demands and contributed in developing submissions with the Kenyan government.
• We worked with both country and international media platforms to promote the campaign demands.
• Worked with national marginalized communities, North Eastern, Kajiado, Samburu and Maasai, to share stories of climate impacts they are facing and demand for climate justice.
• Our membership up to date still participates in development of national environmental plans.
