The Agency was estabilshed in 2016 through an Act of the Kenya Parliament .I came in to setup the ICT Section

Responsibilites

• Design, develop, implement and coordinate ICT systems, policies and procedures
• Align the user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational mandate
• Manage information technology and computer systems
• Plan, organize, control and evaluate ICT and electronic data ensuring security of data, access and backup
• Preserve assets, information security, control structures also audit systems and assess their outcomes
• Data protection and privacy
• Prepare and handle the ICT section annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness

Achievements

• Developed ICT procedures and policies for the Agency
• Developed technical specification for ICT equipment and services
• Developed, implemented and managed ICT infrastructure and solutions for the Agency covering communication, networks, storage, security, backup
• Managed the project on implementing an Enterprise Resource Planner for the Agency
• Managed project on the redesigning of the Agency website and development of an E-learning portal
• Developed quizzes programme for the Directorate of Education and Research used in the Anti-Doping education activities
• Represented ICT in the ISO 9001:2015 certification process

The Commission is incharge of elections and electoral boundaries in Kenya.

Responsibilites

• Provide first line support on all general and commission specific software and hardware issues in the region
• To communicate information on hardware and software issues to corporate ICT services
• To assist in the selection and disposal of redundant ICT equipment
• Provide onsite technical support with hardware and software issues where needed, including travelling to other commission sites in the county of responsibility
• Provide ICT point of contact to all users and third parties for all ICT matters, and escalate to ICT headquarters issues that cannot be resolved locally
• To ensure the maintainance of a healthy safe and secure working enviroment through ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements in relation to ICT
• Implement information security at the county level as directed by the ICT directorate

Achievements

• Successfully trained all Kakamega county election personnel on the electoral technology used in the Kenya General election of 2017
• Successfully handled the technology aspect of the Kenya General elections of August 2017 for Kakamega county

The organization was started in August 2013 It specializes in Information Technology/Systems infrastructure, acquisition, implementation, audits and Security, ISO 27001 implementation and audits and other ICT related activities

• Member of Team subcontracted as a Technical Expert by SGS Kenya Limited to audit firms on the process of achieving ISO 9001, ISO14001 & OHSS 18001
• Setting up and managing Linux, Apache, My SQL and PHP (LAMP) Ubuntu Servers with component servers SAMBA file sharing server, Squid Proxy Server, LDAP Server, SSH Server and Shoreline firewall for Interiors Electrical & Mechanical Solutions Limited
• Setup, Installation & commissioning of Network & PABX for Kenya Debt Relief Network (KENDREN)

Responsibilities

The organization uses different operating systems which include Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 2003,2008 Servers and Linux server which I administered.

I determined the exact nature of problems and provide (1st to 3rd line support) to over 100 end users across Kenya, ICT Security and Audits whilst working on projects in a variety of support and development roles

• Managing Knoppix Linux Server running a DHCP server and MS Windows 2003 & 2008 Servers running Print Server, File Server, Fax Server, Lotus Notes Server 5.0.11 and other Application software’s on IBM and HP hardware servers
• Managing several application software within the organization and involved in various computerization projects
• Providing support on the Telephony system and ICT hardware, software and networks in the organization
• Managing ICT equipment inventory
• Training end users on use of ICT equipment as per the company policy and how to handle tasks on the operating systems
• IT infrastructure auditor and security assessments on systems
• Implementation of a global information security management structure based on ISO 27001
• Performed system audits and organization reviews in various industry segments

Achievements

• Member of the team that successfully completed an Electronic Cargo Tracking System setup, testing and training of the system to end users

• Setup and Configuration of Routers and Kenwei Central Servers at KENHA Headquarters
• IT Security Audits within the organization and on projects between SGS Kenya Ltd and other entities e.g

• Member of the team trained on implementing ISO/IEC 17020:1998 at SGS Kenya Ltd
• Network plan and set up at Gilgil, Athiriver and Juja weighbridge station and doing a centralized SQL and PostgreSQL database for Promatic and Kenwei software respectively
• Supervised and managed installation and commissioning of a new PABX (Hybrex IP PABX) and Structural cabling on extension offices at Victoria towers 3rd floor

Responsibilities

The organization uses different operating systems which include Windows XP, Vista, Linux Ubuntu desktop and Linux servers. I determined the exact nature of problems and provide (1st to 3rd line support) to over 40 end users based in two locations

• Providing expedient error corrections and solutions whilst working on projects in a variety of support and development roles
• Accomplished setting and meeting deadlines, planning and developing for computerizing a range of business tasks.
• Managing three separate multi-platform samba File sharing Servers with LDAP authentication seamlessly integrating Linux and Microsoft products
• Managing a timed Internet access using squid proxy and Dan guardian and also a web-based database driven Electronic Project Manager and Enterprise Resource Planning.
