With 30 years of dedicated service at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and the defunct Directorate of Civil Aviation (DCA), I have wealth of experienced and I am an accomplished Senior Air Transport Officer. My journey began as an Aeronautical Communications Officer III in October 1995, got promoted to officer II in 1999 and I served diligently for 11 years, before transitioning to the Directorate of Aviation Safety, Security, and Regulations in January, 2007. Currently, I hold the esteemed position of Senior Air Transport Officer, a position I've held for the past 10 years since October 2015 and I’m hoping to advance to become Chief Air Transport Officer. Equipped with two Post Graduate Master’s degrees in Business Administration (MBA) specializing in Aviation and Human Resources, I am currently pursuing a PhD in Strategic Management since September 2018. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a commitment to excellence, regulatory compliance, and strategic leadership within the aviation industry. Occasionally, I have been given the opportunity to be in-charge of the department when the Manager is away. My expertise lies in Facilitation of Air Transport, Economic regulations and compliance standards, where I have played a pivotal role in developing and reviewing air transport policies and regulations both nationally and internationally in addition to enforcement of Annex 9. My strong analytical and problem-solving skills have enabled me to identify emerging industry trends and review regulatory frameworks accordingly. As a leader, I excel in coordinating diverse teams and engaging in policy drafting at local, regional, and international forums. I have actively contributed to the development and implementation of key initiatives such as the Advanced Air Transport Information System (AATIS), which has streamlined short-term license issuance and lease agreement approvals. Continuous learning and improvement are at the core of my professional ethos, as evidenced by my acquisition of numerous professional qualifications and certifications in courses such as Senior Management, International negotiation skills, ICAO Annex 9- Facilitation, International aviation law, Managing aviation policy and regulation, and Air Transport economics. On airline management I have undergone training in ICAO oversight or aircraft leasing operations and Air Transportation Management among others. I possess expertise in policy and regulations development and strategic management, reflected in my contributions to various policies such as AFCAC Policy, EAC Civil Aviation Policy, Sustainability Policy, Knowledge Management Policy, Innovation, Research and Development policy and the civil aviation (licensing of air services) regulations within the Air Transport Department. KCAA at large and the region. This expertise has been recognized through various achievements, including my role as Kenya's Rapporteur for the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) working group Policy review in 2020, ICAO Air Transport Regulations Panel (ATRP) and active participation in International Bilateral (BASA) and Multi-Lateral Air Services(MASA) Negotiations. Outside of work, I enjoy interior decoration, reading and participating in church mentorship activities. Fluent in English, Kiswahili, and vernacular languages, I am adept at communicating with diverse stakeholders. My wealth of experience, combined with my academic qualifications and leadership skills, positions me as a valuable asset in the department and the Authority at large.
