Climate advocacy and sustainable urban development

I am a dynamic and purpose-driven young leader passionate about creating sustainable, inclusive, and community-centered solutions to today’s challenges. My work lies at the intersection of youth leadership, climate action, health, and sustainable development, where I actively engage communities, amplify youth voices, and contribute to initiatives that drive meaningful impact.
Through my involvement in community initiatives, clean air campaigns, SDG advocacy, and youth-led programs, I have developed experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, storytelling, and mobilizing collective action. I am particularly passionate about sustainability and climate advocacy, with a strong interest in connecting global conversations to practical, community-driven solutions.
As a youth advocate, I believe young people are not only beneficiaries of change but also key drivers of innovation, resilience, and transformation. I am committed to fostering collaboration, promoting environmental stewardship, and advancing initiatives that contribute to healthier, more equitable, and sustainable communities across Africa and beyond.
1. Leadership & Community Mobilization
- Leading Air Quality Activations:
- Organizing and leading "precision advocacy" runs/walks across Nairobi to monitor air quality and environmental health.
2. Citizen Science & Data Collection
- Hyperlocal Data Gathering: Utilizing wearable AirBeam3 sensors to collect real-time particulate matter ($PM_{2.5}$) data during physical activity.
- Digital Mapping: Using the Cityzens Mobile App to capture geocoded multimedia data (photos, audio, and text) of environmental hazards and assets. Route Design: Strategically mapping run routes across diverse socio-economic areas in Nairobi to identify "pollution hotspots" and "green lungs.
3. Advocacy & Data Storytelling Precision Advocacy:
- Translating raw air quality data into "data stories" to highlight the impact of the built environment on public health.
- Policy Engagement: Contributing to the development of "policy prescriptions" based on collected evidence to influence Nairobi County's urban planning and climate policies.
- Public Awareness: Creating and sharing social media content to amplify project findings and increase public demand for clean air and safe public spaces.
- Collaboration: Working within a transdisciplinary team to bridge the gap between scientific research and grassroots community action.1

Running is a powerful social tool. As a "Run Leader," I have seen how it transforms from an individual pursuit into a collective mission.
I am an advocate for the power of the pedestrian. For me, walking is not just a mode of transport; it is a way to bear witness to my environment. Through walking, I practice the same principles I value in Occupational Therapy: presence, intentional movement, and the steady pursuit of wellness. Whether I am exploring new trails or walking through my community, I find that the best ideas always come one step at a time.
