Specificprojects

  • Project IT Coordinator - Executive Certificate of Proficiency course (ECOP), The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has partnered with the College of Insurance to train, examine and issue certificates in the Executive Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance. The purpose of the course is to increase the knowledge of Kenyans about insurance services. The target group includes, but not limited to, community leaders, persons involved in other trades and professions, women group leaders, small traders, leaders of local organizations, school leavers and religious leaders who must be all county residents. It is intended to cover all the 47 Counties in Kenya. 2,500 people from 22 counties have been trained and awarded practicing certificates.
  • Project IT Coordinator - Insurance Champions Training, Based on Kenya Vision 2030 IRA seeks to enhance access to insurance which is identified as critical in transforming the country under the economic pillar. This aspiration is aimed at enabling households and enterprises to generate wealth and strengthen their resilience to shocks occasioned by risks. In its efforts to bring all on board and ensure that no one remains ignorant of the needs and benefits of insurance, IRA is collaborating with College of Insurance on consumer education. They identify and engage champions (community and opinion leaders in the counties) who will be sensitized about insurance and will be expected to offer guidance on insurance matters to their peers or followers. This training is intended for all the 47 Counties in Kenya.
  • Project IT Coordinator - Traffic Police Training, This is undertaken by College of Insurance in collaboration with the Insurance Regulatory Authority. The police are very important to insurance as they augment the function of risk mitigation which is the core business of insurance. The main objective of training police officers is to enhance the officers' understanding of insurance as they go about undertaking their business. It is also to enhance their capacity to investigate and prosecute insurance related cases in courts of Law. The training is to also aim at creating awareness among the officers about the needs and benefits of insurance given the risks that their nature of operations entail. This would help them choose the types of insurance they find suitable for their needs. We have trained 450 traffic police officers in batches of 50 officers.
  • Project IT Coordinator - Pensions Trustee Development Programme Kenya, The College has partnered with the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA), Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning and Association of Retirement Benefits Authority to develop the Trustee Development Curriculum to be used for the training of various categories of people involved in handling pension funds. It is within the mandate of the Retirement Benefits Authority to regulate and supervise the establishment and management of retirement Benefits schemes, protect the interest of members and sponsors of retirement Benefits schemes, promote the development of the Retirement Benefits industry and implement all government policies relating thereto. It is on this basis that this curriculum was developed. This curriculum is to be used in enhancing the capacity of retirement benefit schemes to comply and uphold all aspects of pensions fund management in order to protect the interest of members and sponsors of schemes. Since the inception of the program in 2011, the College has trained 3,512 Trustees in 116 classes.
  • Project IT Coordinator, Regional Study on Development of Insurance Certification Program by the EAC- Financial Sector Development and Regionalization Project I (EAC - FSDRP I), A regional insurance certification program will enhance the skills of the market players, and enable them have a broader perspective of the regional insurance market. This will go a long way in enabling the insurance sector players to freely operate in the markets of each of the participating countries and also enable policy holders to purchase Insurance coverage in any one of participating countries. The regional certification program will augment the supply of financial sector personnel with skills that transfer across Partner States. The curricula and report were validated and approved by the East Africa legislative assembly for implementation.
  • Project Coordinator for The Weather Index Based Insurance Course in Collaboration with World Bank, Capacity building in agricultural weather risk management in Eastern and Southern Africa by College of Insurance in collaboration with the World Bank's Agricultural Risk Management Team (ARMT) - Washington
  • Project Coordinator for The Regional Certification in Agricultural Insurance for COMESA Region in Collaboration with USAID/COMPETE, Project Coordinator for the College of Insurance in collaboration with USAID/COMPETE and other global stakeholders on the development of Regional Certificate in Agricultural Insurance curriculum for the East Africa partner states.
  • Project IT Coordinator for the Implementation of the IRA county training, Project IT Coordinator for the implementation of the Executive Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance training and certification for the various Counties in Kenya in line with the Devolved system under the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) Strategic Objectives of boosting insurance literacy in the country and to enhance insurance penetration and awareness

  • Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority, Project Coordinator for the implementation of the UFAA Trustees training and certification. The project involved curriculum development, training and certification of the Authority's Trustees.
  • Global University of Malaysia - INCEIF, Working on collaboration with Global University (INCEIF) in Malaysia, to develop a curriculum on Takaful - Islamic Insurance
  • Zep-Re PTA collaboration on re-insurance training programs for the COMESA region, Developed the curriculum for the Proficiency in Short-Term Reinsurance including online examinations.
  • Written the ICT book for the Diploma in Insurance with Dr. Vincent Omwenga from Strathmore University.
  • Published and participated in writing The Bancassurance, Reinsurance, Introduction to Insurance COP books.
